What will I be doing Tuesday? I will go to work like I always do on Tuesday. Then I will come home and drink wine and hope that the change that everyone voted for is the change that they expected and wanted from the New Messiah. And life will go on as before.
Given that it will be 3am in Australia, I will be watching it on tv from my home, however, we are having a party at a more civilised hour with friends later on! Cannot wait!!!
I checked other as i’m never interested in the inaugaration. it’s just a party. If i’m home i’ll probably check in and out of it through the night. i hope it’s downplayed and inexpensive.
I am going to an inauguration party that starts at 10am! My 6 yr old does not have school that day - drats! - so he is going to an inauguration party too!
DeB,
Let’s stay in touch.
And, I just have read that Obama is using the very same bible that Lincoln did for taking his oath of office.
I will be at a friends house toasting this day with champagne and eating a great brunch. Are you going to be watching the balls? I wonder how many the Obamas will attend? They can’t hit them all; there are so many.
Hi Diana…..A friend stopped by and mentioned the Bluegrass Ball in DC…..Know anything about that?
Four day weekend…woo-hoo…
Did you see that fabulous outfit Michelle had on at the Lincoln Memorial? Reminded me of an Emanuel Ungaro I tried to make from a Vogue sewing pattern….double faced wool and all…gorgeous….ended up looking like “loving hands at home” as my granny would say….
Actually it was a Pauline Trigere….another failed attempt…….!
Yes, Georgia, I know all about the Ball. Washington Post picked it for the second year in a row for being the best of the balls up there, It is presented by the Kentucky Societyand I have a bunch of friends going. Muhammid Ali and wife will be there. And, Mitch will be there, of course. It’s tomorrow night. 1400 will be attending. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/inauguration-watch/2009/01/inaugural_ba…
Yes, I saw the outfit, and thought it looked fabulous. I only wish I could have seen it close up. I can’t wait to see what she’ll be wearing Tuesday night. Sister Sue says that is one of the main topics in their paper up there in DC.
I read that about the bible too… can you imagine how cool that will be for Michelle to be holding Lincoln’s bible? I’m definitely going to watch whatever ball it is where they have their first dance together… is that the Neighborhood Ball? That may be the only one they show on network tv anyway.
Sister Sue is mailing me excerpts from the Washington Post coverage. As she says, the atmosphere has reached fever pitch. I’m wondering if the weather holds out if the turnout won’t be larger than expected. I think it was yesterday at the big concert.
Do you know what the weather forecast is for DC? (Whatever it is it would feel balmy to me. It was in the upper teens here last night and felt mild to me after our -25!)
