I can’t stand watching the news on TV anymore. I love it that online, I can pick and choose which stories I read, and there’s no commercials, no wannabe superstar “personalities” reading the news, and no hearing the same stories every 10 minutes. And other than satellite, radio is so annoying to me, it’s obsolete. Newspapers are so wasteful. All that paper, all those trees…..

Ginger, have to agree with you, 100%. I’m obviously not aware of ‘current events’ via a vacuum. :-))

NPR, Air America and on-line Huff Post, CNN, MSNBC, WP, NYT during the day. Keith Olbermann, John Stewart, Steven Colbert, AC360 in the evening. Yeah, I’m a news junkie…always have been.

Oh, Oh, Maurine H…..I’m with you on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Back when I had cable, I never missed them!

I get up pretty early in the morning and listen to a little BBC radio as I’m trying to wake up. Then I get my coffee and go online. I read my local paper, a bit of NYT, WAPO. I listen to the Bill Press show on Air America. On my commute to work I listen to the radio, usually Air America but sometimes I turn it off. After work, I read some of Common Dreams, Truthout (which has a section on women), Buzzflash, Slate and Salon. I listen to a local community radio show in the evening with Amy Goodman “the War and Peace Report. Once a week or so I listen to Keith Olbermann. My one reason to get cable again would be to see The Daily Show! The rest of the news media don’t seem interested in real people and in my concerns.

My husband is a producer for one of our local news stations and he handles the 10pm show. He gets kinda pouty if I don’t watch, so I feel rather obligated to at least have it on, even if I’m not paying attention. He also likes to email me the funny stories he gets that they aren’t allowed to put on the air. It’s amazing what some people do!
