I speak English, French, Spanish and German. (I’ve studied Hebrew, Japanese and Russian, but I don’t keep them up.) I’ve found that knowing French and Spanish lets me understand the other Romance languages and respond in French or Spanish, so I can have slow but clear conversations. Same thing with the other Germanic languages - respond in German. Most of this happened in Europe, where I found people far more open to working with languages than in the USA.
Hahahahahaha!!!! You got to be kidding me ? I have a Native American mom and a Polish dad ! I had a Very hard time just understanding english .I had to teach myself to read ..And on top of that I see letters backwards ! Nope, I haven’t seen the movie, but I just wrote down the title and will rent it. Dogs are wonderfully non-judgmental and loving. They teach me what “heart” is all about. Sounds as if you already know that, Eliza.

I’ve lived and worked in foreign countries much of my adult life. Ten years in Mexico made me fluent, I can get from Paris to the Dordogne with my College French, a year in China recently piqued my interest in learning more Chinese (but that’s a lifetime effort). But, like Frank, I think it’s going to be very useful some day soon.
I speak Spanish, English,French, Italian, German & Portuguese (brazilian) & now I’m trying my hand at Mandarin Chinese which is actually fun to learn, & it will be very useful in the coming years, I guess……
Being a New Yorker, I know a bit of Yiddish.
I shelp all over New York. I schmooze with my friends. Had to listen to Palin’s spiel, and still can’t get over her chutzpah.
