If I were a superheroine, I would be the Bionic Woman because I am already familiar with the parts department. Yep tis I, enhanced, amplified, already faster than a speeding turtle.
I’ve always admired Alice Roosevelt Longfellow, daughter of Theodore and, of course, Jackie O. Someone named Nancy Drew and I just have to agree with that choice also….and her chums Bess and George. And probably Mary Stuart, a saddened heroine.
Bonnie—My very chic grandmother loved Alice Roosevelt. Nana, my mother, and sister, Mimi, were in a Georgetown Hotel for lunch and AR was sitting there. She looked my grandmother up and down carefully and then gave her a tiny nod of approval. Nana loved that. And until the day she died way too young at 85 (terrible health habits) she always looked beautifully pulled together. Maybe living up to AR’s approval.
Nancy Drew too…she was great. Jackie named her place on Martha’s Vineyard “Red Gate Farm” and since one of her best friends (and neighbors) Carly Simon said Jackie was always a 16-year old girl and full of mischief. Wondered because that was the title of one of the ND books that I sucked up as a kid the instant they rolled off the presses.
All of those choices are good ones, certainly from my childhood era. And I LOVED the Tinkerbell response! But I want to be a bit more recent and vote for She-Ra and Sailor Moon. When my beautiful girls were little, we spent many pleasant hours watching these cute little cartoons and videos. Lying on our stomachs on the floor in front of the television, faces in our hands. Watching the women save the world!! And always a lesson to be learned intertwined in the stories. It was She-Ra for favorite oldest daughter, Sarah. And Sailor Moon for favorite youngest daughter, Rachel.
When Rachel was beginning to talk as a toddler, she could not pronounce “Sarah”, and began to call her sister”She-ra”. I guess the young ones pick up more than we give them credit for, eh?
Tinkerbell? No. Lois definately not! But, wonderwoman, yes, I have carried it off in the business/tech world. I can make others tell the truth or catch them in a lie or diversion without that lasso, so she is who I am most like. In reality, I do think that Eleanor R. was quite close to a “superheroine”. Jackie Kennedy endured and molded her world to be a better place. All great. Why do we have to choose…I will take them all!
well, superheroine ladies … I am with Mugsy, never quite got with the comic book thing … but Tinkerbell, yeah! that is a lovely answer! … and as a little kid I wanted to be Pippi Longstocking, so strong and totally her own unique independent self, a little sad/lonely and very very funny …
