If you were asked to run for vice president of the U.S. tomorrow, truthfully, what would you say?

I would say it was too late to get on the ballot. But in general, I could see how it would be entertaining to travel the country and campaign for the presidency, to consider how to propose policy that would better serve the nation, and discard policies that have outlived their usefulness. I would caution whoever wanted me on the ticket that my opposition to the death penalty and my general antipathy toward war as a primary problem-solving mechanism might well make me unelectable. If whoever was foolish enough to still want me on the ticket still wanted me, and if there were somehow time to get me on the ballot in fifty states and all the territories, than hey, you only live once. I wouldn’t mind living in Washington, D.C. Except for the six weeks or so when people are too perplexed to know how to drive in snow, it is a reasonably attractive city. All those museums. Good food at last. The river is finally clean. And then you would have a good seat for the Mark Twain awards!

I voted YES! Why not? I am kind of shocked to see so many bloggers on here with such strong Political opinions said NO…That really shocks me…Guess its ok to go after others on a blog site but not stand up in front of America and voice those opinions? And once again the question was asked would we be VP is asked…Nothing was said about Palin YET some have already turned this into a hate fest for her…

C O That’s exactly why I wouldn’t want to be a candidate. Imagine having your entire life analyzed and dissected by people across the country, many of whom have never put themseves out there and assumed any kind of leadership roles. It would be a nightmare and would disrupt my family. I sometimes wonder what will become of the facebook generation who live their lives openly in cyberspace. My son, whom I have warned about posting anything controversial or unbecoming because it will eventually come back to bite him, once asked me, “Didn’t you do anything stupid when you were 16 or 17?” and I replied “Yes, but thankfully, nobody remembers what they were!” Can you imagine what they will be able to unearth once these young people decided to enter the fray?

Linda…I guess in my closet I dont have any skeltons that I wouldnt come out first and tell…so that way no one could dredge up anything about me…I know what I have done wrong and its not at all bad…I had a child out of wedlock but I am marrying that man in 2 weeks! I had a “normal” childhood, never ever done drugs, yeah been drunk 3 times in my life…had speeding tickets…my family is just a great ole’ american family…maybe something down the line that wasn’t right w/ my family but oh well…I would take the job and question everything anyone ever wanted to do…even the President…I think our Country may need someone who hasnt been in Washington for a long time to be VP b/c that way she/he can say “oh wait a minute guys/gals, why can’t we do it this way or that way”…maybe it will stop the old Washington gooies from falling back into their own little worlds and not really giving a rats a$$ about ours…

Hi C O, Your post is cute. Only thing is is you don’t need skeletons in your closet, as there will always be those who will more than oblige you and uninvitedly, put them in the closet for you. i.e. Lies. And anything you have done and have been so open and honest about, will invariably be twisted and contorted to the degree of not even recognizing it as you. LOL Congrats on your upcomming marriage, I wish you happiness and joy! :)

Elaine…Thank You…it has been a long year planning this wedding so I am sooo thrilled its coming to an end! The thought of being married is jus so exciting even though I have been w/ this man for 5 years, still being married is a brand new adventure for both of us…Its our one and hopefully only! But yes I agree…I know I would be spun as something awful just as every other politician but I would take the job and do it to the best of my abilities…The only other thing I would have issues with is that I dont like to fly! That may hinder me going over seas! They will just have to come to me! :)

CO, Just because someone doesn’t want one particularly dreadful candidate, has no bearing whatsoever if they’d want to do it themselves. Mutually exclusive questions. I might not want a drunk steering the ocean liner I’m on through ice bergs….but that doesn’t mean I want to take command either. Not going to have to concern ourselves much long with Palin, if Troopergate doesn’t do her in, she’ll be gone, thank god, by Nov 4th.

When Obama is elected her services will not be required in WDC so she can return to blowin’ away wildlife from helicopters.

Oh ok…I thought maybe you had the inside scoop to something else…We shall see the night of Nov 4th…I can tell you one thing there will be a lot of sleepy American’s on Nov 5th! I plan on staying up & watching until the actual winner is announced and depending on who wins may have to have the alarm on the house, the dog on guard w/ Smith & Wesson laying next to me in bed.
