You are either very brave, or you have no idea what you’d be getting yourself into. Sorry, CO, but you’re too kindhearted to be a VP of the US. They’d eat you alive, and that would be a loss for every life you touch.
Susan, Thank You but I would hope that my kind heart would be the reason maybe being VP would be so great…Having someone in there that really cares…I may care but I can tell you I am one tough cookie! I can stand up to the best of them and go toe to toe!
I believe it! btw, I just read your comment about the Smith&Wesson. I hope you’re keeping that thing locked up, with your daughter in the house and all. I’ll admit that I’m a gun wimp, especially with little ones around. :-)
Susan, Oh I am very trained with the gun and Yes it is in a spot she can not get her hands on…I grew up in a house with guns and as long as I can remember we (being my sister and I) knew where it was and knew that if we even touched the bedside drawer it was in, we were in for the worst a$$ whoopin of our lives…Then when old enough we were taught how to handle guns and the danger they can do…with my fiance’ (getting married in 2 1/2 weeks) and my daughters father, he is also very highly trained in weapons, he also served 8 years as an MP in the Army reserves…but thank you for your concerns…Thankfully there has never been a time when I have had to use that weapon for defense and I plan on keeping it that way…We have an alarm on the house, then a dog (my beautfil pit bull, Zeke) and if they get thru those defenses then as a Mother I have a right to protect my child and I can say they wont be leaving my house…But lets pray I will never have to use it. My daughter will be taught how to handle one when she is much, much, much older! I was 13 when I was taught but always had and have respect for them…
A funny story…My Fiance’ and other State Troopers responded as back up to a 300 person fight one Friday night at a party…Well there were 300 or so, probably less (we know how men like to enduldge) aruging and some fighting…well 15 cops with guns, and I mean guns, were talking major ammo and the poeple fighting didnt stop…One K9 dog showed up and the crowd ran like crazy screaming…It is on a dash cam of one of the Troopers and its the funniest thing ever…15 + Cops with guns but ONEDOG, ONEDOG with all those people…So yes there are plenty of people out there that dont respect weapons…
Susan again thank you for always saying kind words to me! Its nice and I like your comments and when I am flipping through tons of them I always stop to read yours.
One dog can make a huge difference. We have a watch dog, ourselves. She’s yet to be tested as a guard dog/attack dog, but anyone that gets near the house sets off the doggie alarm big time. She’s a Nova Scotia Duck Toller (think 50 lb. golden retriever, but with major attitude), and people tend to underestimate her motivation to protect because she’s so sweet looking. We adopted her from a rescue group when she was two, and don’t have any idea what happened to her in early life. One thing’s certain, strangers who are male are not treated very graciously by her! I’m happy to hear that you’re a responsible gun owner — I should’ve known. Those things frighten the beegeezus out of me, but I never grew up with them. Just dogs and horses! What color is Zeke?
Zeke is a caramel color w/ white…i also rescued him from a shelter that rescued pit bulls…he was 10 weeks old when I got him and MY first dog…My full responsibility…He is the best dog…He is very protective over our family & yes when someone hears him barking they take steps backwards. Its funny b/c some of my fiance’s co-workers, big bad Cops, wont come in the house unless Zeke is outside…I know if someone thought about breaking in and heard him they would think twice…when my Fiance’ is on night duty I know if Zeke moves slow everything is ok but if he is up quickly then either “daddys” home or something else is out there…Thankfully we moved into the “city” or shall I say small town where we live and actually live in a subdivision now instead of in the “country”…There were times when we lived in the country I would let Zeke out and he would stand at the edge of the corn field and just bark and growl…I knew it was animals in there but only once did he go in but that was short lived…he came running back out…Thankfully that was during the day and I could see it was a deer…
But yes Susan I would never allow guns in my house if I didnt know how to use them myself…I guess that comes from being raised by a man who hunted every Saturday of hunting season and a Mother raised in Texas, riding horses and hunting…I guess this is why I can kind of relate to Palin b/c she seems more of that type to me…I mean my Dad would bring home a deer and my Mother would help him skin it and cut the meat out…Nothing unusual for me to get up on a Saturday morning and there be a deer in our bath tub…Oh well…I am not saying how they kill in Alaska is the way I would choose b/c its not and I am a dog lover so killing wolves hurts but if its done for population control…I am ok w/ it but not from Helicopters…that seems way too excessive…
I just feel this world is run by men/women who no longer care about anyone other than themselves and that is not what our Country was founded on, or at least that is not what I think our Country was founded on…
Your dog seems pretty…I will have to look up the breed to see what they look like!
I believe I am smarter, more thoughtful and better informed than at least one of the current candidates and have far more executive experience, having been an executive in a Fortune 50 company for the past 10 years. However, I have no desire to get on the national stage and expose my family and friends to the unrelenting digging and analysis that would ensue. And that endless secret service protection! I need my alone time.
Exactly, Barbara. Women go out for mani/pedi/eyelash dye etc to get away from everyone….imagine two big sullen guys in black standing there glaring at their watches while you’re deciding on beigey-pink or firehouse red toenail polish, or french or sport manicure? That would take all the fun out of everything. That’s why Jackie always said she had sinus problems and went water skiing with John Glenn. A gal’s gotta do what a gal’s gotta do. [inserted Palinisms as a last hurrah…..since she’ll be splunking the tundra for moose before my next haircut.]
I would say: “Where is the camera?”
Do I get a prize?
WOW I thought this was not a Monday morning question.
Of course I would say NO, I can hardly govern my household.
Husband with Alzheimer, son with agoraphobia, 3 dogs, one cat and
a tank full of hermit crabs.( my sons) That is about all I can handle and I am not winking at any one.
I woke up this morning perplexed about how I was going to fit laundry, babysitting, planting fall plants, etc. and etc. all in one day. Politics? I don’t think so! I’ll limit my politics to stuffing envelopes and data entry, thank you very much…
