I haven’t seen any of them unfortunately. But first I’m going to the Wrestler! I have absolutely no desire to see benjamin button. neither Brad Pitt nor Angelina Jolie has made a good movie in years. they’re either making horrible commercial crap or overwrought over rated non commercial crap. I just can’t get over the media’s enthrallment with those two. The first movie with either of them i wanted to see was the changeling… and it was pretty dissapointing. it wasn’t engaging at all. I don’t want to see Frost/Nixon. there’s been so mcuh done on watergate already.
but the others are on my list… after the wrestler of course…
Which movie will be awarded the Oscar? As a great movie fan, I have to admit that I have not seen any of the films nominated. It isn’t that I do not plan to see them; but for this group of films, I am quite comfortable to wait for the DVD or a television presentation. Is it just me or do the nominees seem to be rather dour this year?
I agree, Bonnie - overall, the Hollywood tribe’s been grasping at straws the past 10 years, IMHO. Art is out the window, having been replaced by “presumed artistic design,” save for our more mature seasoned performers. But, alas, it’s the same with television. What a shocking bore. If they are murdering, slaughtering in fact, others, they are yelling and arguing. Daytime TV is a bloomin’ mess, and there is no nighttime TV, except PBS. Thank goodness for reading, and the Internet.
C Jay….I haven’t had a TV for years….but came here in November and there’s a TV…it is incredible can flip through 100 channels and nothing to watch….it’s all ridiculous c*rap…although was glad to see everything on Jan 20th. I don’t even bother to turn it on anymore.
So I finally got to see the Wrestler tonight. it exceeded my expectations. you keep hearing about Mickey Rourke’s performance. which was incredible. absolutely incredible. but what you really don’t hear is what a great piece of movie making it is. the only scene in the movie that I thought was out of place and sort of overdone was the one they keep showing all the time! the one with the Ram and his daughter where he tells her he’s a broken down piece of meat. I can’t believe Mickey Rourke isn’t nominated for an oscar. I can’t describe how simple and perfect his performance was.
