Mrs. Bates, I went and dredged this up for you. Here it is, the mission statement as it were: http://www.wowowow.com/who-we-are The site was marketed as a site for women over 40.
Of course anyone over 18 can participate, for legal reasons, and for many other reasons. But I think the point of the site is to have a web “home” for all of us women who have a few decades of adulthood going on. That is how I think the misunderstanding happened. First Mary Lou and then Mugsy questioned why the site was giving some sort of recognition to Frank. I actually was more focussed on what Frank had to say, and started worrying about a repeat election fraud. But the worry that the site would not finally be for women and about women continued in that thread. Frank even sympathized and understood from what he posted. It was never personal. It was almost like a point of order. An inquiry. A lively point of order, to be sure! [Like many parliamentary inquiries, the exchanges can get heated.] I do have a problem with your making it personal, and walking out in a huff. I just think you misunderstood and I hope you will return.
The trouble with these types of misunderstandings is that it can make those of us who are left much too careful in expressing ourselves, so that misunderstandings may become even more common. So please leave the name calling at the door and quit taking it so personally. We are just exchanging opinions and information and having a good time.
Got me! From the tone of that person’s post I’d say it isn’t something good. But since she put her foot in it with her post — maybe we should just quote an Indian Proverb….
“Those who have one foot in the canoe and one foot in the boat are going to fall into the river” from Tuscarora
Lady Gator,
That is a saying I will remember!
I guess if one is going to do name calling, they should take spelling lessons(or turn on the spell check)…
Mugsy, you have a wonderful blogspot.
You are so correct about using All Things Biodegradable. I may also add that if anyone has a garden, All Produce Waste should not be thrown away; compost it.
I do garden lectures, and I am literally begging people to stop using all of the chemicals on their yards. This is going into our waterways, and I would not be surprised if they don’t discover that it is one reason for the increases in cancer and other diseases of the organs.
Thank you for your contributions to this website. I don’t think you need to apologize to anyone for speaking your mind.
I said ‘burn it’ because there are now giant ovens that can be heated up to unbelievable heights. They can reduce anything to ash in a split second. Scientists have their hands on them now, but someone should be using them for garbage… the kind that’s not good to anyone.
Patrice
First recycle what you can and then burn the rest. But I don’t mean throw it in a pile and burn it - there is a process that you can burn it without oxygen and then it is processed into electricity. Saw the info on it at a Green Builders Convention in Santa Monica. The City of LA already has it up and working and they are investing in other plants to take care of more.
There is too much trash to recycle it all. Too much of it has been sent to the bottom of the ocean or shipped overseas.
PS. The woman from the city told me that recycling was a problem because there wasn’t a market for all of the trash. Therefore this process made it into clean electricity.
Frannie,
I like your ideas, and Mugsy’s too. We need innovation and look to other towns and countries that are dealing with these issues.
And, we need a Congress that won’t stand in the way of this progress.
