Lol, describes you to a “T”….
How are you doing? We talked recently about your thyroid. I’m just wondering if you’ve had any resolution to some of the ailments?
You seem really upbeat, so I’m hoping things are better.
Thanks!
Turned out my thyroid is normal. This time, anyway (it WASN’T earlier this year so it may be a fluke)… My doctor still suspects a hormonal imbalance of some kind, though. He mentioned estrogen, and it hit me - I’m a veg, and consume a LOT of soy products in my diet. (Don’t believe the hype and outright LIES (re: soy prevents cancer; quite the opposite in fact) perpetuated by the Soy industry - soy contains dangerous levels of phytoestrogens, which I already knew from back when I took my nutrition class, but still never thought to suspect as a culprit…I just love soy milk and tofu SOSO much. Ugh.) When I told him that I consume mass amounts of soy daily, it was like a light bulb went on over his head. So we’re experimenting… He put me on Prednisone to clear all my crap up, to sort of reset my overactive immune system, and I’m cutting soy out of my diet. We’ll see… I just want to figure this shit out so I can get started on a path to HEALTH. Or at least…not feeling inexplicably MISERABLE all day, every day of my damn life.
Sounds like you have a doctor who will listen to you and work with you. That is really a step in the right direction.
I hope you begin to see some resolution soon and life gets back to a more normal state for you.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Kryssi,
I can’t remember where I read this……….I’ve also heard it discussed on TV.
Too much Soy can be damaging to your brain. Perhaps you can investigate this and be more knowledgable about Soy.
I guess too much of any one thing can ruin your health.
I’m not telling you this to scare you, but as a precaution. You are too young to take chances. And young enough to undo anything that’s not good for you.
Oh I believe it! Hell, come to think of it I HAVE felt more mentally challenged since I became soy-obsessed! For something that is so cheap and abundant and marketed as an Uber Health Food, it makes perfect sense…at least here in THIS country. Nothing surprises me anymore. Frankly, foods that HAVEN’T been deemed “safe” by the FDA are the only goods I feel compelled to trust these days…
Back to dairy. (And chick-peas…)
It sucks because, cheese aside, I hate dairy. Milk always disgusted me even as a child. My parents got onto me for all the milk I’d waste in my cereal. I’d be like “Are you expecting me to drink that whole bowl of leftover mucus-juice? EEEWWW!”) What do you do when you hate dairy, but don’t know how to moderate soy intake? “Everything in moderation”, I learned. Well, I started out that way…then my self-indulgent Sagittarius nature took over. Every time I like something a lot, I overdo it until it’s too late… Rice milk doesn’t have the same nutrition value, and it’s too sweet. There’s almond milk, but that tastes like ass.
I’ve been veg (as in veggie, NOT vegan - ain’t ever gonna happen; can NOT quit the damn cheese) for three and a half years. I have no issues being “vegan” about my cosmetic products and clothing and whatnot, but dietary is another story entirely. I go through periods (my therapist and I refer to them as “self-destructive” phases lol) where I will become a self-indulgent hypocrite and eat a serving or two per week of poultry or fish (no pig or cow, that’s my one rule). When I do that, I try to be a conscientious consumer by buying free-range, hormone-free, blah blah. It helps ease the guilt a bit.
That’s what I am doing right now. It’s winter time anyway - I need to put on some pounds. So bless the animals whose flesh I am ravaging and may the universe forgive me, ETCETERA lol… (This is why I was never one of those judgmental militant types who go around harassing every carnivore they see. Because it’s a personal choice and ITISHARD. I know!)
you should meet my ex—-total vegan—-B-12? she terms it myth—-if you check you will find ‘Lamrakian’ evolution has pretty-much blown Darwin away. so what? Lamarck shows, over time, we acquire characteristics from our previous centuries ancestors—-so, consuming ‘animal’ products has become a need—-my marathoner daughter started having trouble—-many such do—-the cure? a bit of red-meat/week.
‘hormone-free’ beef has even reached Fla.—-‘the swamp’—-i too, may not resist mozzarella—-vitamin d? seems we need more than previously thought—-Russians are clever—-their martial-art—-‘The System’ advises eating ‘intuitively’—-your body has a mind of its own, and doesn’t rely on books—-trust it—-eat what it guides to you—-follow its ‘hunches’—-if it makes you more comfortable, the ancient Native American belief is such—-when a hunter takes game, said ‘victim’ is allowed the ‘human form’—-not a bad trade—-
