When's the last time you visited an art museum?

Chrome—I am getting ready for work so I don’t have time to read this whole thread. I saw your entry. NYC in the Spring is lovely. The museums are great, especially the Met, except it is downsized from its glory days because of the economy. But the best place for walking around and seeing museums all day, IMO, is Washington, DC. My brother lives in a rich suburb (government hotshot, dontcha know) and I like to visit so I can spend a few days in totally free museums of every kind. My sister-in-law likes to go shopping (I don’t, I hate, hate, hate shopping), so she drops me off at the subway, which is very easy to figure out, really. After I sit at their dinner table and tell them about my day, they still love me! They have a son they consider a rebel who composes music in Asheville, NC, so I guess they understand me, a little. Well, they try. Anyway, back to your trip. Spring is the best. Summer sucks. Truly. Try to make it here in the Spring. I’ll look for your Chrome Toe (sneakers would be infinitely better for hitting the pavement) and subway maps are free.

I love the Nelson Art Gallery here in Kansas City, taking a walk through history and art. A beautiful place, but then maybe I am just partial. Blessings, Linda

We went to the Charlotte Mint Museum to see the Andy Warhol exhibit. It was good to see, but, really, I don’t know what the fuss is all about. I’m not real impressed, lol. Some of the subjects are worthy, but the art is just okay. I have been to the Biltmore within the last three years. Loved it.

I live in a city with several incredible museums. This Warhol is one of my favourites, and the location at the top of the stairs is sensational. Visiting the Charlotte Mint Museum was just last week. I also saw the Body exhibit at Discovery Place last year. As a nurse, I didn’t want to go, can you believe it. But, I took my 11y/o granddaughter and she really enjoyed it. There was a bit of the eww factor, but much more of the WOW factor, and she was very interested.

What I miss most about working in Albuquerque’s Old Town, is that I was directly across the street from The Albuquerque Museum, The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and the Children’s Expo Museum, an interactive experience. I make it a point to visit there at least once a month. Their cafe makes great sandwiches for one thing and is an inspiring spot for lunch with friends. In good weather, they have an outdoor venue for showcasing local jazz, blues and other musicians. In October, revisited The Georgia O’Keefe museum in Santa Fe. Since I’m deplaning in California tomorrow and will be spending time in Santa Cruz, I will be scouring UCSC and the surrounding environs for current exhibitions. San Francisco’s H.D. Young Museum’s mounting of Viviane Westwood was phenomenal. Ta all

Vancouver, a place I wish to vist. As for smooching sand and mistletoe-ing sky, I will in a while. As I type, I am ensconced among old grove redwoods in Soquel, CA. It is full moon night and a big bonfire shall my friend of fifty years and I, light. She’s off to Cruise jazzily with Peabo Pryson on Caribbean Seas, and me? To paint, write, walk and dream. I haven’t been to an art museum since I was a child, although they recently built what I’m told is a spectacular one in downtown Grand Rapids. And I’m sure Chicago has a super one. A friend of mine, Mic Carlson (http://www.miccarlson.com/), is an outstanding artist. He sculpted and bronzed statues that have been on display in Assisi, Italy, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. In June, Mic presented to Pope Benedict XI at an outdoor ceremony in Rome one of the statues.

James, one of the finest museum with the finest collection I’ve seen anywhere is in Detroit. All that automotive money benefited it greatly. When you go to most museums they have little plaques next to them saying who they are on loan from. In Detroit they say who they were given by. That museum owns most of its collection. It also has a great modern collection. Well worth the price of admission. Bev.

The Greenfield Village museum of antique cars is the museum I’d most like to check out, in Deerfield or, rather, Dearborn, Michigan. Deerfield’s further to the west. That one, I’m told, is breathtaking.
