I don’t know what to say…I’ve never thought of doing an acceptance speech under any circumstances. I’m more a do somebody a good turn and not get found out kinda gal.
But won’t it be wonderful to do somebody a good turn, write a book about it to inform the public on how they can also accomplish this AND win a Pulitzer for it!!
Well, first of all, I’d like to thank my muse, who’s been with me from the beginning, and of course my agent, and my 5th Grade Teacher, Ms. Massey, who made me write every day, and when I repeated myself, she’d wad it up and throw it at me, and I would like especially to thank all the friends of Bill W. who have stood by me over the years, and my editor, of course, and….
Mugsy, you’re too funny. I must admit that when I first saw your post I misread it and thought you thanked your “mouse” (who needs glasses?) It made perfect sense, fitting right into your short story about cats and potted plants.
So have I, Lorraine, I have the speech all prepared. It isn’t THAT long, but if the orchestra is cued to play over me I’ll just ssshhhh them like Julia Roberts did, saying this is MY night, let me talk.
Definitely a Grammy for best vocal duo. I sing duets with my radio all the time (an occasionally a trio or quartet with a friend—but always accompanied by the radio).
