Yes, Evita was good. Madonna and Eva Peron are kindred spirits and she gave a good performance.

Though my favorite performance in Evita was that of Antonio Banderas.

Not a fan…never “got” the whole Madonna craze. Give me Etta James singing “The Blues Is My Business” any day.

J B……….Was it Etta James that sang …”What a difference a Day Makes”? If not, will someone please tell me who it was. For some reason I have that song on my mind today. Sorta like the commercial that sticks in your head. LOL

Oh..TOTALLY off subject…we leave today for ten days on Hilton Head Island, our family reunion. This morning my husband gently broke the news that he would like it if we could be “un-plugged” during this time. I am leaving my laptop behind…so…I will miss you all, and reading your witty comments each morning with my coffee. I look forward to “catching up” when I get back!

I agree with Frannie M. None of the above. None whatsoever. Overrated. Overrated. Overrated.

She has a lot of talent, I never cared for the way she marketed herself !

She was a wild and crazy in youth and matured . Seems to be a great Mother and writer and still walking to her own drum beat even in her Faith, Great Music and artist. Enjoy life you cannot please all Happy Birthday.

Her iconic debut was the best, because she like the Beatles at the time and their fellow comrades, was a sign of the time.

I loved her music - I was in college from 82 to 86 so she was the “it” girl at Syracuse University - I thought she went overboard with her sex book but whatever, I always thought she was a very smart lady who was laughing all the way to the bank - she knew we were ready for her and she ran with it and good for her - I put her in the same smart business women category as Martha Stewart - I wish those that came after her that say they were influenced by her would have at least some of the range she has - she actually can sing!

Great point, Chips. I was in college 85-89 when she was going through her first real big metamorphisis, from “Like a Virgin” to “Blonde Ambition,” and we were all impressed at her ability to change herself. I think that’s the lesson she gives us - the ability to reinvent yourself keeps you current, forever.

I never liked Madonna — I always thought she was cheap and trashy.
