Seriously, folks, could we get real for a moment about what lies before us? These ARE the choices. Either the Damnocrats get it together and stop all this internecene squabbling or we’ll end up with another 8 years of Halliburton and the Iraq war. Forget health care, forget social security, forget a decent standard of living. We are essentialy through as an international power if we continue in the direction we are headed, and THESEAREOURCHOICES. If you want to change how this was decided, get involved and do something about campaign reform that actually means something. Force the networks who slurp free at the public trough to free up airtime for actual, not staged, debates among the candidates. Chase the lobbies out of Washington (and the money-changers out of the temple, while we’re cleaning house). Make it illegal for candidates to take money FROMANYCORPORATION. Individual contributions under a certain amount only. Something that will enable people who aren’t millionaires and billionaires to run for office. Until we do this, we’ll end up bickering about the fleas in the coats of the “dogs” they allow to run. Meantime, if you want to know something about Senator Clinton, why not read her website instead of the media and the bs your friends pass back and forth? We, as women owe her as much for the 35 years of public service she’s contributed to this country, not to mention the singular achievement of becoming the first viable woman for President of the United States.
I find it interesting that many of the vocalized answers in the comment section are from those who oppose either ticket.
The question was not phrased “which would you vote for?” It was not phrased in a way that required one to subscribe to the Democratic Party in order to answer. It’s a simple “which would you prefer?” If given ONLY these two choices, which would you prefer?
That being said, neither is my ideal, but given only these choices, I have to say that Obama-Clinton is more appealing to me. Early in the primary race, I thought that a Clinton-Obama ticket was my dream choice. After many sleepless nights, hours of research, and days of flip-flopping, I finally decided that Obama was more of a natural choice for me. I believe in his ideals and his principles, and if he were to run with Hillary on the ticket as his VP, I would certainly still vote for him.
I’d like to see Hillary with Edwards as VP. Truly believe she is the only candidate of the three out there that can turn the problems of this country around. This race has opened my eyes to the incredible amount of sex discrimination still out there; I thought after all these years people in this country would finally recognize women as equals in all endeavors. It’s very telling that despite the fact that so many other countries have already had strong, successful female heads of state; for a country that prides itself on being the leader of the free world, this election process has shown how little we’ve progressed in both gender and race relations as compared to other countries. How sad!!
It’s truly great, and incredible that a black male, and a female can be in the lead in this race now; however, sexism is so entrenched, the nation would prefer a black male to a woman. It is sad! Just think about all varieties of women, and then about all varieties of black men. Women in America do not win out, no matter what color they are; but Eleanor Holmes Norton once said in a group of us, “One thing we don’t have to put up with, and that’s your honkey men!”
I voted for the Clinton-Obama ticket only because there was no other choice for VP for Hillary. I would not vote for Obama for President. I do not trust Obama. If Hillary loses, I may need to consider voting Republican, and that would make me very sad.
Oh gosh, this wonderful gift we have been given by those who have struggled and fought so that I can go to the polls alone and place my vote with a voice loud, strong, clear and true has turned into a good old boy convention ~~ take the sign off the clubhouse door “No Girls Allowed” doesn’t live here any longer..my choice is not for Obama with Hillary in any way..but that was not the choice given here..I would love to see her with Edwards…we get Elizabeth Edwards that way too and she is a great and strong presence in any situation.. Let’s keep on using our voice and sing it out loud and strong..someone has got to hear us.. eventually
