I want to say George Carlin because I grew up with him - should say I matured with him and loved him dearly. But Tim Russert really threw me for a loop. Although he as fairly new in my life (compared to Carlin) I always felt he was one of those genuinely good people and I don’t see that much any more. We needed him in the arena he was so good at. He won’t be easily replaced. George Carlin will never find an equal.

what are we going to do on sunday mornings now..?… Everybody’s a loss…. I would like to include here, once more, Clay Felker and his widow, Gail Sheedy….. Could you put that in the loop..?..

The deaths of Tim Russert and Tony Snow are voids that cannot be filled in my notebook of genuinely sincere human beings. Taking charge of ones own life and to enjoy being accountable was a wonderful, yet rare attribute that they both possessed. George Carlin spoke in what some might call a “twisted manner”. I for one though, saw a great deal of humanity in his humor. His many “truths” were real genius. He was tops!

Linda, I think we were prepared for Tony Snow’s death. But Russert and Carlin came as a shock. I loved watching Fox News Sunday’s with Snow. He always had a great sense of humor and I loved the last segment. Both men made my Sundays. Well, I already helped hijack one thread to talk about Carlin. But glad WoW finally acknowledged him in some way.

At first it was Tim Russert because it was so sudden and he was so young. Now it is Tony Snow because he was so talented, and I keep thinking: Why haven’t we cured some of these things? I’ve eaten a diet light in meat for 30+ years as part of my faith. Also I don’t drink alcohol. Both those choices put me in a lower risk group for colon cancer and breast cancer. My brother-in-law died of colon cancer and it is a miserable cancer to have and to treat. I’m hearing that German hyperthermia therapy is having remarkable results. Reagan used hyperthermia therapy in Germany to treat his prostate cancer.

The reason the death of Tim Russert affected me is that it is a grim reminder of how close to heart attacks we can be and not even know it. This should be a wake-up call for each and every one of us.

Tim Russert’s death was such a shock that I’m still not ready to believe I’ll never see him on TV again. Tony Snow fought cancer so hard and I fervently hoped he’d win his battle. Both men were dedicated family men and fine Americans; their absence represents a loss for us all, no matter which side of the political fence we’re on. Then there was George Carlin whose brand of humor was so…so…wonderfully George - “Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.” I hope his soul is flying free, scattering priceless little bits of laughter all over the universe.

While I have loved George Carlin since his “Hippy-Dippy Weatherman” days, Tim Russert’s death truly hit me hard. Maybe because Tim was so young, maybe because he died at the same age and of the same cause as did my Nana. I didn’t realize that Tony Snow was that ill. I knew he was having a recurrence of his cancer, but I was still surprised.

Al their deaths hit me in the gut. But I will especially miss George Carlin who made me think a lot, laugh a lot and think some more.

Not a high profile death but more drama in my household. 8 weeks ago my young daughter in law passed and hours ago, today on Monday, her mom passed on. Dr. told us she had a stroke at her daughters funeral and was not expected to last very long but she did not tell us. I think she died of a broken heart when her only child left us. I can see the two together having a grand time with tons of cats and dogs. We here will miss them a lot.

Thank you Ms Winery, today I am so confused I am afraid for the other shoe to drop. I feel that I am at the end of a cliff. One day at a time, this too shall pass, all enters my head but the reality is there. My son is a clam, I do not know how he is taking this all in. He was also attached to his mother in law. Thanks for answering.
