Am I the only one who is disturbed when people mention the possibility that Obama, if elected, might be assassinated, to introduce an argument in favor of Hillary for VP? I’m not picking on Linda L here — it has happened elsewhere. I think such comments are totally inappropriate. Obviously, the primary purpose of a V.P. is to assume the Presidency if necessary, but the commentators in question could pose other scenarios, such as physical impairment (e.g., a stroke), or an accidental death. No, I’ve only seen comments about assassination scenarios! Such comments recall HRC’s explanation that she continued her primary campaign because of the assassination of Robert Kennedy. Despite her attempts to back-pedal, her comment suggested unbridled opportunism at its creepiest.
I was in the fourth grade when Pres. John F. Kennedy was assasinated, and the specter of a similar event happening to our country (and it is “Our” country, whomever we support), in these dangerous times brings up all sorts of emotions. Despite my vehement disagreements with elected officials (or candidates), I could not imagine speaking explicitly of their possible assassination because of the consequences of such an event. I hasten to add that I am sure that those who made these comments are wonderful citizens; nonetheless, I think there is too much of such talk.
My choice would definitely be Biden. However, if I was certain that Obama would win the presidency, I would prefer to see this valuable American, with such extensive experience in foreign affairs, be by-passed as VP and
kept slotted for the more important role as Secretary of State.
He’s too valuable to be VP.
Could be if Biden is chosen it’ll be much like the Bush/Cheney presidency where the older experienced guy is really the prez and the younger guy is the face out front. (Until things go awry, then everyone calls it the young guy’s administration and forgets about the puppet masters in the background.)
Caroline Kenney would be an excellent choice for Senator Obama’s VP. She’s intelligent, thoughtful, and well liked. And she has a household name. Most everyone in the United States and internationally love and trust the Kennedy Family.
Hillary Clinton for VP is only way we’ll have a lot of Clinton Supporters vote for Obama and not McCain even though they are registered Democrats.

The V.P. should be Hillary. The race was very close. She could have been
the Democratic nominee, so she should be next in line. This is necessary
to make sure that McCain does not become our next President.
