I vote for Bob Graham: former governor of Florida, former presidential candidate, foreign policy expert, about McCain’s age, and he’s never lost an election he was a candidate in. McCain MUST take Florida to win; Bob Graham is more popular than Jeb, the emperor’s brother.
Wow, totally forgot about Bob Graham…. that would make sense. He’s been keeping so mumm about this, and I think it will be a surprise, maybe you’re right.
Right now I’m waiting for the Risk Warren non-debate to start. Fingers are crossed !
Having lived in the Sunshine State for 24 years, I adore Bob Graham, but I think he’s past his prime. He campaigned a few years ago for Prez (?) and was an embarassment. He was the best we have ever had down here in the Tropics, in his day.
If he was willing to serve, I would like to see Mr. Colin Powell selected. This selection would really be a positive change in our political system. Not only would it represent a new way of thinking in Washington, Mr. Powell would bring credibility, listening, patriotism, experience and most of all good judgement.
Many seem to be focusing on experience in this election. I think that is short sighted. In the mid 70’s we had the mideast oil crisis. So with all this experience we have had, the # 1 issue at the time was not recognized with a long term solution, despite President Nixon’s attempt to start the process with Project Independence. Where are we today, over 30 years later. This is only one example of many where experience has failed us. It’s not how many years you’ve spent doing something that matters, it’s what you’ve done with those years that counts. Give me good judgement over experience any day. That is why I’m voting for Senator Obama and feel he and Mr. Powell would make a powerful American ticket.
By the way, this is the first time in 30 years of voting, I’m voting for a Democrat for President.
I think Colin Powell would be a good choice, too, but I don’t see that happening. Probably no more than Warren Buffet, but each have so much to offer in knowledge and wisdom, I hope they are appointed to something in Obama’s cabinet.
A winning ticket should include Hillary Clinton as Veep. I think that Senators Obama and Clinton could work through their differences and become a strong team, addressing the vital concerns of the country and gaining back our stature internationally. The “Bill Problem” (and he is a real problem) might be solved by appointing him Ambassador to China.
What a difference a day (or should I say week makes). If this were the question of the day a couple of weeks a go I would have responded with a resounding John Edwards! Listing all of the attributes about him I admire and respect, all the attributes I believed qualified him for the job of Vice President. But now he is scum in my eyes with the revelation he betrayed his wife and kids. I don’t really know many of the men in consideration, but I am leaning toward Evan Bayh. I also like Jim Webb, both have the personalities, beliefs and sensibilities that are in line with who Sen. Obama is.
God forbid someone nut case tries to kill President Obama - who do you want there to pick up the reins? Hillary is the most qualified. Biden is a close second. Richardson, no, believe it or not - I think he’s past his prime. I’m sure he was quite vigorous during the Clinton years but now he’s slow, almost acts like he’s hard of hearing.
