Who is our modern-day rebel without a cause?

The first would have been James Dean; the second River Phoenix but I do not know if any actor has held the title since. So, for the third honorary title of Rebel Without a Cause I nominate Daniel Radcliffe otherwise known as Harry Potter but also the newest nude sensation on Broadway.

Kanyne West?? Are you kidding. Just because he made one movie?? I don’t see the charisma. I remember dropping my jaw when he told America that GW hated Black people, but to compare that to James Dean? James Dean was the ultimate rebel. Today there are so many TV shows about teenage angst, but none compare to the talent that was James Dean. I thought about the famous “Brat Pack” of the 80s as possibilities, and still could not think of anyone who could come close to Dean. Rebel and East of Edens left such an impression on me because of Dean’s performance.

Kurt Cobain, (although because of his drug use and suicide, I am reluctant to put him, but his rebellion changed rock) Shia LaBeouf is an up and comer, plays rebels.

Not Brad Pitt, Sean Penn or Kayne West….these are great guys with terrific causes. I vote for Sec of Treas Paulson: A walking “Wanted” poster. Here’s Nancy Pelosi’s floor speech about the outrageousness of his initial bailout proposal. I’m not a fan of Pelosi, but this was a good speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMLo7i38D58 Congrats to Americans who roared loud over this attempt to socialize and rewards Wall Street thefts. What a progressive bailout would look like: http://www.alternet.org/workplace/100491/trickle-up%3A_what_a_progressiv… The same strategies that Poppy Bush/Reagan used to bankrupt So American countries, unseat democratic leaders and replace them with dictator puppets, clean out their treasuries to get rid of all social programs, mortgage the countries to the hilt…is underway here and a GOP Rep made a floor speech today referencing Martial Law. To answer the question: Two of my favorite rebels were Sandy and Danny in Grease…esp in those skin tight black outfits! Reminds me of my own great HS times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phIwYmj38us&feature=related

Thanks, Suzanne…as always. I was glad to have the opportunity to see Speaker Pelosi’s comments in toto, and I agree with you. This may be the first time I’ve ever seen her talk and say something at the same time. The “Progressive Alternative” also has more than a littlle merit, and I can only hope some of our legislators will spend some of the holiday time seeking out alternative approaches to this bailout. But best of all…GREASE! Gave me the perfect backdrop for a much-needed high-heeled romp-o-mania session. Overall, your post probably added five years to my cardiovascular endurance.

Wait. Are you referring to people who are ACTUAL rebels without causes, or feasible actors who could play James Dean’s part in a remake? Because, politically speaking, Pitt and Penn seem like rebels WITH causes.

Sean Penn came to my mind first. He has grown into being quite an interesting man and excellent actor. He and Brad Pitt are both aging well. CA

Here are some great rebels with a cause—a clip of responsible House Representatives from both parties who expressed their outrage over the proposed bailout. Good for them all! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/28/congress-white-house-reac_n_129…

I don’t get to movies so I don’t know who to choose but aren’t there any female rebels out there?

defining the world “rebel” in this question makes me wonder. But a lot of celebrities have opened our eyes to causes, Dame Taylor,Bono,Oprah,Angelina and Brad,Jerry Lewis, the Boss,Sir Geldhof, and more
