Who usually pays off campaign debts? Why should it be any different for Hillary Clinton? When one looks at campaign history, it is not uncommon for a candidate to have debts.
Will the same question be posed for all the men who are running for public office?
I LOVEHILLARY!
However, she should pay off the debt.
I just donated $10.00 to help and I purchased a t shirt while I could.
Forgive my stupidity but who would pay off her debt? Would she pay off my debt?
Will the party pay off her debt? And if so why?
I was under the impression that a deal was reached that any money donated to Hillary will go directly to the DNC.
If this is correct, then I assume an agreement is in the works to pay off her debt.
That said, why this question? Haven’t other candidates (males) made similar agreements. Why is this question posed to make it seem Hillary is doing something shady?
Just noticed you also included the Republicans. Should have voted for the RNC since they wanted Hillary to be the candidate thinking she would be easy to beat.
Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is right there in Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/20/primary.wrap/index.html
If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama
If you haven’t done so yet, please write a message to each of your state’s superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com
Obama Supporters:
Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it’s appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It’s that easy…
Clinton Supporters too …. !
It takes a moment, but what’s a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !

I vote that Hillary should pay off the debt but have to admit that I don’t know the usual protocol. I will have to change my answer to ‘however the big boys pay off their debt’. (And isn’t it a shame that as savy as I think I am that I don’t know who pays off these debts - it could be us for all I know!)
I think Bill should foot the bill. If not for him, I think she might be in a better position with the delegate count going into the Convention. HC’s campaign was ambushed by President Clinton but not deliberately. Bill was just being Bill….. and that is not a good sign. He should pay. Her loss is more than money; a lot more.
Bonnie - I would laugh at that statement if it wasn’t so true. Even though I voted for him I have lost a lot of my admiration for him over the years. Have always admired her - just can’t vote for her this time around.
i believe, that by law, the candidate must pay the bill. however, the dnc can do fund raising for her.
the hillary campaign has squandered their money away like ‘drunken sailors’ and i do not know if fund raising for her would do much to diminish her indebtedness.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The Clinton campaign was badly managed from day one. They spent a bundle at the front end, not expecting to have the fierce competition from the Obama campaign, and failed to plan for the end game. When funds trickled down to almost nothing, Sen. Clinton funded her own campaign and now the question is who should pay the debt??? How ridiculous! The debt belongs to her and she should be responsible for it. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to be teaching our kids, fiscal responsibility? Phuleez!
I totally agree! Hillary is a poor manager and has great expectations that she still runs the show. No nominee paid the loser’s bills. Both Clntons assume that they are in charge, and now there are games being played that Obama owes them something. No way! Hillary’s former followers should get over it. She got herself into the financial mess by staying too long and beginning with nothing but gaul. Obama owes the Clintons nothing, and it’s time for Hillary to return to her carpetbagger role as NYS Senator. I’m a New Yorker and Iwonder why we all owe her so much. She’s had her 15 minutes of fame and its time to retreat.
I sent a letter to the NYTIimes editor about this subject, because I’m disgusted that this self-indulgent couple with all their manipulations still “rule the roost.” If they need money to pay this audacious bill, then Bill should shoot off his mouth in more lecture tours in some other country like Bosnia! It’s time for them to retreat from Washington and get on with their private lives, if they have that.
HRC is staying in the campaign partly to get the Obama (not the DNC) campaign to pay off her debt. Each day she stays in her losing battle, she spends more money she doesn’t have. It takes real gaul to stay in, try to smear Obama any way she can, and expect him to pay for it when he wins the nomination. Typical for the Clintons.
Hillary and Hillary alone should pay off this debt. The fact that she feels otherwise entitled is precisely why I will not vote for her. She wants to win even if it means bending the rules that everyone agreed to, and changing her image to pander to those who can’t see through the ruse. I’m disappointed, offended, and embarrassed. Hillary Clinton does not represent me as a woman, as a democrat, and certainly not as a citizen. I had hoped for better things from her.
