So, would you say the same for John McCain, or any male candidate for that matter? If you think she is the only candidate that has ever “bent the rules”, I fear that you are very naive. And speaking of pandering…please study McCain’s voting record over the years vs. what he is saying now.
I don’t care.
I look at all the things happening, all the things we could be discussing…like Bush attacking Iran. Between the occupation in Iraq and the devastation that was and is New Orleans, our own dead children and our own pitiful response to national tragedy, and how we’re gonna pay our own bills, there are a wealth of important relevant issues to converse about. Talk about fiddling while Rome burns…sheesh!

Sen. Clinton and her spouse are worth $110 Million certainly most capable of paying off their own debts. Why should hard working Americans send any money let alone $10, $5 or any money for that matter when these people are filty rich. Why on earth does she keep asking the public to get her out of debt when she has more than enough money to pay this bill. She is choosing to continue this race even though she is fully aware that the math is not and will not be in her favor. Let Sen. Clinton and President pay the bill. If Americans pay the bill they will just be that much richer. Personally I am offended when she ask hard working Americans to pay her bills.
If the DNC is going to pay off Hillary’s debt then can I add mine to the pile? I have been voting Democratic since I could vote which ironically began with the Clintons. :)
Laughing out loud! Thanks, Lisa.
And Laverne, there’s no question in my mind that Hillary Clinton is a hard-working American woman. Congenial or cranky, as circumstances merit, she’s a worker. I don’t know enough about either party’s financial commitment to any candidate’s primary campaign, at either the state or federal level; but beyond this, it would seem that any legal attempt to secure payment would eventually end up at Hillary Clinton’s doorstep. But who knows? Could end up on the heads of local campaign headquarters, for all I know. Depends, I guess, on the point from which the funds were to be dispersed. I’ve heard it’s financially savvy to use other people’s money to pay your bills, so who knows.
She wanted this “fight”, then she should pay the costs. Why continue the fight, if the war chest is empty and someone else has to pick up the tab? It’s not Barack’s problem…sounds like those working class voters need to dig a little deeper in their pockets if they want her to continue on!
She’s a professional—it’s a cost of doing business. Not our problem. Don’t worry—the other candidate won’t have to and the FEC rules prohibit his using any money you have him for this purpose.
No one ever questioned how Bush got his money/campaign/presidency because the answer is too obvious.
Why is this a sticking point with Clinton?
It seems she gets skewered with questions no one asks about male candidates.
Maybe the second woman president will be beyond all this, and all the females presidents who follow her.
Whoever wants to who is legally permitted to. I imagine she will not have trouble finding such people. Campaign debt retirement fundraisers are commonplace. Since she is likely to remain in the Senate in a powerful position, she should have no trouble. I laughed at the inclusion of Bill Clinton as one of the choices in the poll; many think her failure to get the nomination can be blamed on him.
Besides she could always write another book: What I learned from running for president…and losing. I would read it.
My desire to contribute (I have been making small donations to Barak’s campaign as I am able) has waned since the possiblity of his campaign helping her pay off her debts as a healing, party unifying gesture came to the fore. I am wondering if it will slow his outpouring of contributions especially for the “common man/woman” involved perhaps for the first time in the political process. Each of my dollars has been a “vote.” I was not voting for Hillary, nor do I want to underwrite her ill-managed, over-long, and sometimes negative campaign.
This idea of donations to Obama going to the Clinton campaign is an Urban Myth.
Fed Election laws prohibit Obama from taking millions of dollars from his own campaign and giving them to Clinton’s campaign.
The most his campaign could legally give would be $2,000.
Beyond giving her $2000, the most Obama could do for her, would be to help her raise money, to retire her debt. Money for Clinton has to be raised specifically for Clinton. It cannot come from contributions to Obama.
