Gosh, Frank, my best friend says “doggone it” all the time when a good eff it would do. He is a Wm & Mary grad, by the way. Yes, I am very concerned about the American educational system—I write about this for a living. But part of that is how much critical thinking ability is being taught, encouraged or instilled, and I see a lot of people succumbing to slogans here and savage kneejerk scorning. By the way, the CA chapter of NOW endorsed McC-Palin…Not that I see too much interest in sisterhood on this list.

It was the President of the LA Chapter who PERSONALLY endorsed Palin. That would be, one person, not an entire chapter. The National chapter endorses Obama-Biden. Fox-News is having a hay-day over this one. www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2097859/posts

You know, I may be a “dumbed down Republican”, but I’d rather be that than a left-winged, liberal Democrat whose party stole the election from a more qualified candidate in Hillary. Of course, Biden would know more “political shit” than Governor Palin! Duh!!! The man has only had one career - a politician! Obama is dirty - it may not come out now. But as he sends his ACORN army to do the dirty work of voter fraud, he’ll get his! You people, or Obamabots as I think you’re called, are worshipping the wrong God!

How do you presume to know what God I worship? How do you know I am a liberal? http://www.salon.com/opinion/conason/2008/10/04/dumb/index.html Don’t bother to respond; I have nothing more to say to you.

Which article? There are several. I prefer to learn from Volcker, Summers, and other economics who are non-partisan, and very academic and objective. And, because they do not have any confidence in McCain, neither will I.

Linda, Your comment is so to the point and hey, you didn’t skirt around truth, which is what Palin did @ the debate, she avoided “all” issues, that made her uncomfortable………but hey I guess if you’re NOT a Soccer or Hockey Mom and you ‘re not affiliated with JOE 6 pk, well den gosh darnnit, we’ll just have to get bak 2yer!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Sarah said it, we didn’t .

We Need Obama/Biden
What’s interesting to me is that she didn’t use the “folksy” language, winking etc. in the Alaskan debate clips that I’ve seen, so I guess she just thought she would “dumb-it-down” for the national audience. It appears to have worked to the “I’m-willing-to-be-dumbed-down-to” crowd. I’m sure this was the plan of her debate coaches, knowing that she didn’t have a clue and realizing that there would be those “dumb-it-down” types who would see it as charm instead of condescension. As for her answers, but mostly lack thereof, I really wish the moderator would have forced her to respond. I think they had Gwen Ifill so concerned about looking bias that she just ignored it, and that is not what should have happened. If the republican party is so confident in her and thinks she did such a great job, then offer up a real debate….you know, one where she actually has to answer questions and respond to the other debater…we all know that will NEVER happen!

We Need Obama/Biden
I forgot to mention that she obviously did not have any idea what Ms. Ifill meant when she asked what her “achilles heal” was. I guess that’s not a part of her “folksy” vocabulary.

I agree. What was the purpose of the debate if you are going to ignore the questions? It was like she had a list of things she wanted the public to know. If this is what she wanted to do, she should have issued a press statement. What happens when she meets with world leaders to discuss a particular issue? Will she keep changing the subject to Alaska?

I’ve come to one conclusion re politics—forget TV and the taking heads—read the newpapers; esp NY Times, Washington Post, and The Guardian and Times of London—talking heads as we all know deal in sound bytes—no depth of coverage—or rarely any except for Charlie Rose. So why waste time with them?

Suzanne, I just read this and I realize what kind of toxic garbage that these so-called pundits are spewing in exchange for their very high salaries. So, I guess all we can do is consider the source. http://mediamatters.org/items/200810060015?f=h_latest

if Americans paid attention to ‘content’, yes Biden won—-i noted an error in the debate—-the ‘Treble’ for Biden was muted, while Palin blasted through. that may hurt—-
