Racist or not, if this is an example about how McCain deals with disagreements, you can imagine how much fun he would be at a G-8 summit. If he were doing this just because he was racist, it would be a whole lot less terrifying for imagining a McCain presidency, as we have had racist presidents before and may well have them again. But a president who is determined to insult, be rude, be arrogant and full of hate to anyone who differs with him, that would be unthinkable. We need a president who is deft, a president who is intelligent, not only about facts and figures, but also about how to deal with conflict. He can’t reach across the aisle, he can’t reach period. McCain is just my way or the highway.

I simply believe that McCain is STUBBORN, hot tempered, and he is HIGHLY pissed that Obama is leading in the polls. McCain simply can’t stand that possibility that he might loose.” I appreciate your response to defend McCain. But those characteristics that you wrote, also describe someone who is immature. McCain may not hold a personal belief that Blacks are inferior, however, he is happily appealing to those that do. THAT IS A FACT. Is that his fault, maybe not. But, he could do more to keep this campaign on the ISSUES and stay off of the personal attacks. The majority of American people are fed up with the divisiveness! Those who insist that Whites are superior to all American cultures are now in the minority of popular opinion. John McCain has that minority willing to elect him simply because they’d rather be buried alive than vote for a black man. So I again appreciate your response Maize. But there is a real problem with McCain being revealed in his recent behavior in the debate hoever you choose to interpret it.

Lena, Please review my comments. I DID NOT defend McCain’s rude, insulting, or “immature” behavior. I was merely making a distinction from what I believe to be McCain’s TEMPERAMENT- which is clearly reckless, rather than his presumed (racial) prejudices being a factor in what you termed, “the tone of the McCain rallies to be Ku Klux Klan-nish.” I simply do agree with your KKK assertion. However, yes, I agree that there are many Whites who will support McCain “simply because they’d rather … not vote for a Black man.” But, guess what? These are some of the SAME individuals who supported Hillary Clinton … precisely because they won’t vote ‘Black’. Furthermore, I believe that if GEORGE BUSH was on the ticket - despite the fact that he has been a disaster, the RACISTS would vote for him rather than vote for Obama. (Or, Barney Fife from Mayberry ) Lena, I’ve always accepted comments, opinions, and interpretations to be highly subjective to our individual experiences, which does not mean that ANY of us has the final say as to who is right and who is wrong. Unfortunately, this also includes our response to ‘truths’ or facts. And it is why our highest courts debate and argue over interpretations, which our local courts can not agree on. My point is, I respect your ‘opinion’, and I believe you made a VALID point … I simply differ somewhat in your claim that McCain is deliberately… “happily appealing to those who … hold a personal belief that Blacks are inferior - aka KKK-ish. On this issue, I hope we can agree to disagree. Thank you for your reply, AND I enjoy reading your posts here on wOw.

Error: I simply do agree with your KKK assertion. Correction: (should be:) I simply DO NOT agree with your KKK assertion. My apology.

Of course we can agree to disagree Maizie. You have been gracious and respectful. I hope you know that I am not disagreeing with most of what you said earlier. I perceive that you understand the problem with McCain’s brutish behavior. However, I still believe that McCain is not doing enough to respond to those who hold racists beliefs by differentiating that his attacks have NOTHING to do with Obama being Black. His (and Palin’s) attacks are less about issues and more about discrediting Obama personally. Since experience is no longer an issue (most agree that Palin is lacking experience) all which is left is cultural background. “Joe Six Pack” and “Good Ole Boys” are euphemisms for Whites who hold racist beliefs. After all, who cares if McCain and Palin have confronted Good Ole Boys? It’s mute point to me and does not indicate any exceptional ability. When I hear that phrase I hear this: “I am able to talk to White racists who are in a clique and make them understand that their behavior is not acceptable and although they may disagree, they eventually come to reason with my position because we have the same cultural identity.” When have you heard those types of cultural euphemisms used in the Obama camp? Never. That type of tactic is divisive. It presents an “Us” against “Them” mentality, part a racist philosophy. Let me also tell you how much the Obama camp steers away from any impression of catering to any one cultural group. There are Blacks who are disappointed that Obama is not doing enough to address those specific issues inherent to the Black community. What they don’t understand is that it is incongruous for him to run as the Black President. I too have enjoyed our exchange Maizie. I look forward to seeing you post more here on wOW.

I misspelled “moot point”. Mute point is a Freudian slip— I wish the “Good Ole Boys” refrain would be put on mute.

Little “georgie” has put the U.S. in a helluva mess. I am ready to denounce my U.S. citizenship and reclaim my British citizenry and birth heritage. I became an American citizen the “legal” way and the grass is NOT greener on this side of the fence. The U.S. is trying to put too many band-aids on too many overseas wounds and doesn’t have enough fingers to plug all the holes in the dikes. People on the “homefront” are in great need and many are in dire straits. We have a huge national problem, in regards to illegal immigration, foreign nations buying U.S. property to gobble up our natural resources for export, businesses are firing workers and relocating their plants overseas, illegal immigrants are a burden on our system and they are siphoning a LOT of cash out of our financial cycle and sending that money south of our border. This is money that will not be spent to support American businesses, who employ our American workers. The U.S. has gone to Hell in a handbasket. I think I’m going to take what is left of my money and RUN!!!

LOL. Yes, my passport is valid. I forgot to add that too many Americans are without health and dental coverage. Oil companies have us over a barrel (no pun intended). The situation in the U.S. will not be solved with the next president, given the lack of a qualified candidate in this race.

Actually, by saying “That One”, I think McCain has just made Obama a super-hero!! My background is in music so naturally that is where my brain goes in all things. Think about it. Close your eyes and start humming the TV theme from “Batman” - now just insert “That One” in place of “Batman” - and VOILA!!! Someone with some talent and Photo Shop could REALLY do it up right. I think America could use a Super Hero right about now, don’t you?
