Jennifer Born and raised in California, I spent many Christmas’s at my uncle’s in Malibu. He lives just north of the Getty Villa. For the beach, my 15 year old insists on Zuma, where I hung out as a teenager. As a very small girl I used to ride with my mom up off of Malibu Road on the south side in those hills (across from Pepperdine), there weren’t many, if any houses up there at that time. No matter all the houses, Malibu continues to hold it’s beauty and charm. My uncle still to call it a small town, I love him for that. Sounds like you had a wonderful childhood. They almost don’t make them like that anymore.

Sounds like your Uncle lives in Sunset Mesa Area. My parents lived in the Getty after the war for about 6 months. Zuma Rocks for an all around beach. Best Body Surfing I have ever experienced. ANd The Snow cones!!! i was so very fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow up in Malibu, especially in her youth! I remember the first Movie theather, back when the Younger Brown was Governor. Where in Cali did you hail from? It has all changed so much. I am glad that othrs LOve The Malibu too. Smiles Hugs and Blessings.

Jennifer I live just north of Los Angeles. Yes, I believe it is Sunset Mesa. He is still up there. He hasn’t done Christmas for two years now since he is almost 80. Yep, Zuma Rocks - it is just such a long drive now, all the traffic and canyons. If there wasn’t so much traffic, I would be there more often. Yes, California is so different it is ridiculous. Didn’t you also live in San Diego? My aunt lives in Del Mar. Years ago when we would drive down there it was so many wide open spaces. Now it is houses all the way. The amount of development is…. I don’t even know how to describe it anymore. There is so much it is unbelievable. It has slowed down in the last couple of years, but it will pick up again when we aren’t looking. California’s population is 38 million. Sheesh! Sounds like you have found a great life and way to live in LALALALAND.

The first musician that came to my mind, The renowned flutist Jean- Paul Rampal. I agree that the given answers, do not coincide with the question. But I have liked learning more about the voices over here in wOw. My favorite classical piece is Pachelbel Canon in D Major. For your pleasure, this piece just sends my spirit on high. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZHw9uyj81g

Gershwin (yes, he did classical and classical/jazz fusion), Vivaldi, Bartok, Leonard Bernstein, Bizet (Carmen!!), Brahms, Aaron Copland, Debussy, Handel (Messiah, of course), Mozart - too many to chose.

Musician: Stephen Hough (piano), Christopher O’Riley (piano), & Yo-Yo Ma (cello). Composer: Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Gershwin, Walton, Copland. Chopin’s op. 28 preludes are the best. If you’re new to classical music, there are no right or wrong ways to start. Try Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and then Mendelssohn’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” music. The Copland movie scores to “The Heiress” and “The Red Pony” are also good starting points.

I’ve always loved the Bruch Concerto in G minor, Op. 26 for it’s emotional range, and Vivaldi is wonderful, too. Mozart, because he WAS his music.

Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and his Nocturnes.. Handel with his Messiah. They lift my spirit when I listen to them.

My boyfriend plays classical piano, just one of the many reasons I fell in love with him (his fav is Rach 3). At work, I have my brand-new purple ipod nano within easy reach for times I need to strangle coworkers. Beethoven, Mozart—they relax me and allow me to work without homicidal results. One has got to love music that soothes the savage office worker.

My Alias My 15 year old discovered Tom Waits on one of his music sites and he can’t get enough of it. He tries to sing like him. I love it.

Frannie Em, you don’t have to be 15 to imitate him! ‘-) Give it a go. It’s fun.
