I had an elderly aunt and uncle who lived in the desert outside Palm Springs who used to pick it wild and put it in water in the refrigerator and drink the water. I never had the nerve to try it, I was afraid my stomach lining would break out in some kind of rash! My aloe plant hasn’t been getting much use either. Maybe I’ll be brave and put a piece into a smoothie, I’ll google it first just in case!

Might be interesting to research it further. I googled it and without going into any cited articles, there are really two sides to the issue. Some seem to say it has many benefits related to the gastro, others say don’t do it - it can cause IBS and other related problems. Hummm. I’m all for doing everything I can to live to be 110! If aloe will help me reach that goal I’m all for trying it! In the meantime I’ll stick to my Jamba Juice mango a-go-go.

I will definitely read more about it. I suppose it may have bad effects for some people and not others too.

Oh Winery, I liked that soft purple shirtdress. Good contrast to Mrs. Biden’s stark white suit. But I can understand an aversion to prints; I seldom wear them, except in scarfs or shawls.

Rocky 2, We all have our peccadillos. I’ve just always had an aversion to prints except as an accessory like a foulard tie or hermes scarf or rose printed pillow with nice trim in a cottage, etc. To each their own. to me Michelle is fabulous looking and the dress looked like she stopped off at K-Mart. Did nothing to show off her great arms etc. Today was taking a walk and spotted a 20-something gal waiting for the street train on a corner. She had on black fitted jeans, a chic cut long sleeve black-t w/boat neck and 3/4 sleeves, my fave, and Chanel sunglasses, and ballet slippers. super architectural haircut, blunt, chin lenght. Looked so chic. Could wear that almost anywhere for day I like prints elsewhere, just not on me. So picky……..!

Yes, I admire that look, envy it even. I’ve never had those proportions (alas), so have had to be creative with my own look, which is more like Mama Cass than Audrey Hepburn. About “K-Mart,” well, perhaps I agree a bit … at least in that she doesn’t seem to go for anything avant garde. Which is too bad. I do hope she wears something fabulously special tonight — plain (no print) silk, perhaps, something with a soft sheen and interesting cut. And, as she usually does, keeps jewelry (costume and/or real) to an absolute minimum. Best to ya, Winery. See you after …

I will try and get interested but by 9 pm I am exhausted and fall asleep. Record it? Nah, I will hear highlights of it all over the place for 2 months to come.

I’m a political junkie. I intend to watch as much of both conventions as possible, as I’ve been doing for as long as I can remember. And, of course, I’ll yell back at the TV set. That’s part of the deal.

Just Obama’s speech, if I remember.

I want to see Hillary rally the troops behind Obama and Biden and I want to watch Obama’s acceptance speech, which will represent an astonishing moment in the history of this country. Go OBAMA, Go BIDEN!!!!

Since I don’t subscribe to full cable, I’ll watch whatever is on in the 6:30 to 8:00 pm slot on PBS. That’s as much time as I’ll devote to politics.

I chose “other” because you didn’t give a choice of watching only one. After 8 years of the Bush admin I am not going to watch the RNC and the GOP acting like they haven’t done more damage to this country in 8 years and trying to convince Americans to give them more time to finish off the job. I will watch a lot of the DNC, there are so many speakers I want to hear from.

typo : meant to say; and the GOP acting like they haven’t done more damage to this country in 8 years ‘than any previous administration’

No, it’s a lot of hot air. I live in Philly and we have enough of that this time of year.
