10 Popular Thanksgiving Searches That May Help You in the Kitchen

With Thanksgiving now less than a day away, chances are you’re scrambling to find some recipes to help you make a fabulous meal. Or, you may be looking for ways to entertain your friends and family, instead of just sitting around staring at each other.

Apparently, you’re not alone. Here is list of the ten top Google Thanksgiving searches this week:

1) Pumpkin cheesecake (By the way, The Food Network’s Tyler Florence’s has a phenomenal crunchy cranberry topping recipe for this.)

2) Paula Deen recipes (The southern mom and cook’s last name is spelled “Deen,” not “Dean,” like many think.)

3) Pecan pie recipes

4) Oyster stuffing (minus any fishy taste)

5) Thanksgiving jokes (We’re sure there’s room for Sarah Palin turkey grinder humor here.)

6) Deep frying turkey (which is very dangerous, folks! Be careful!)

7) Broccoli Casserole (We here at wOw would also like to give a shout out to our favorite green bean casserole. It’s delicious!)

8) Southern cornbread dressing

9) Cranberry salad

10) Turkey brine recipes (Here are some of the top 10.)

Tell us about something new you’re doing for Thanksgiving this year!

If you all want a great website to refer to, go to epicurious.com, if you haven’t discovered it already. It is a collaboration of Gourmet/Bon Appetit magazines, and is the finest food site around. I have about 200 recipes in my “recipe box” that I have set up on it. You can find Anything!

Diana, I completely agree with you. Because I have a computer in the kitchen, I often resolve my culinary ruts by logging onto epicurious.com and searching for a recipe by typing in whatever ingredient I have on hand — mushrooms, salmon, whatever — I even narrow the search occasionally by typing asian salmon for example, and then I sort by number of forks; I only prepare 3 and 4 fork recipes. And I love reading the reviews and suggestions made by other cooks. It has replaced the enormous collection of cookbooks I used to have - I kept my favorites and donated the rest.

And, then you are able to keep your “recipe box” currant? Do you have the weekly newsletter that comes automatically? It always gives me a good idea or two. Also, I often email recipes to my daughter and sister.

Yes, I do all of that! I love it! We all enjoy good food in our family. I also often send recipes to my brother and sister-in-law, who live in London. My children, who are 13 and 17, use it as well.

Elaine, I too love Paula Deen. I make her cornbread dressing every Thanksgiving. She has the holiday spirit throughout the year.
