Just wish to stay alive and healthy for another year. to see our young men and women come home from fighting overseas. To see the end of the recession before it becomes a Depression. President Obama to accomplish his goals would be wonderful.

New Year’s Resolution: Try to relax more and worry less. This is very difficult, especially with times as they are and my nature to be worrier. I need to allow faith to take hold, blind faith, that all will be okay. I can’t control everything, can’t change everything, so I need to just “let it be”( Paul McCartney) whatever the “it” is at the moment.

This year, I’m going to stay away from all the toxic, angry judgment that seemed to dominate public discourse this past year. I hope to be more positive and work towards being tolerant of those who have no tolerance for others…who seem to think that LESS knowledge is preferable to more. More than anything, I hope to remain hopeful.

AWK!!! New Year’s resolutions. I’m too old to make any, as all my good intentions last about a week, so just have hope that perhaps our new president can start bringing order to the chaos our nation has become. As for myself, I hope I can just keep on keeping on as in the past, with no major crises to deal with. I wish the same for all the posters here too, for a better year ahead.

This year, I too am going will stay away from all the toxic, angry judgement that does premeate this forum. I hope that everyone can post thier opinions, thoughts and beliefs, without the judgement of others, who seem to believe posters to be less knowlegdeable than they, as that in itself stipulates judgement. This web site was intended for people to converse, share ideas and yes, opinions and beliefs and although those opinions will vary, others must allow for those differences. Is it possible? Anything is possible. Do I think it will happen, Let’s just say……I’m hopeful!

2009 New Years Resolution: Plan My Work Work My Plan

My New Year’s Resolution(s) would be the same as every year — try to live a healthy lifestyle. As for working at changing one flaw or another whether it be in appearance or personality, well I’ve long given up on that. I am what I am, and for those who don’t like what I am, it’s best they leave me alone and I will respond in kind. Ralph Waldo Emerson said as much nearly two centuries ago. I scooped up that wisdom years ago and made it my own.

New Year’s Resolutions? Forget it! Resolutions are always made on January 1 and broken on January 2. So, this year I’ve decided I’m not making any — that way I won’t feel guilty about it! I’m like you Marjorie, I’ve been myself for far too many years to care if someone doesn’t like me. I’m happier being around those that are friends and know me and respect me for what and who I am? I guess I’ll say “to each his own”.

I have to lose 20 # during 2009. Period. Whether it’s on Jan 1st or June 1st, makes no difference—-I have friends that are actually doing this with a new book, The Flat Belly Diet—anyone ever heard of it??

Diana, Lifetime has a new show coming out called Diet Tribe. About starting a diet program with friends. Built-in support group. Worth a tune-in.

Happy New Year Diana, Flat belly diet? does it also work on the derriere or just the belly? Kidding you of course. No magic to diets and you know that already. I have lost so much weight in my decades and gained back so much more. WW was always the one who worked the best and lasted the longest. I wish you the very best in 2009!

It’s sitting on my coffee table right now, and I’ve gotten to the actual 4 day program. Today, I am preparing the grocery list. That is one problem with weight loss; it’s darned expensive because of fresh produce that we have to be eating, which we ought to be eating all the time anyway.

I am right about where you are- I bought the Rice Krispies etc. for the 4 day program. I will start tomorrow I think. I have to reread the first phase. You are right about diets being expensive because of fresh produce. I feel for the poor who cannot afford the good foods they so badly need to prevent health problems. There is so much our country could do (AKA with their stimulus money) to improve the quality of people’s lives. I hope they make smart decisions on how to use that money and cut out the golf courses, etc these stupid mayors submitted as stimulus project ideas . I hope for health care and infrastructure that moves our country out of 3rd world class - any time the wind blows we lose power for several days. Our electrical grid and equipment is antiquated and it is a matter of national security but the greedy electrical company DTE anyway won’t upgrade the equipment and make it reliable. Off of the flat belly topic sorry I digressed .

Okay, I have a question. Why does it HAVE to be Rice Krispies? I eat only whole grains/no sugar with breakfast—usually Cheerios or Shredded Wheat, dry and whole non-processed oats when cooked. But, I wonder why those 2 particular cereals? Of course, I will do what they say; I’m just curious. You are right about fresh food prices. That is why Eastern Kentuckians and all through the Appalachians have had the worse diets for generations. Which has led to massive Diabetes I and other fat related diseases. They have lived on processed food, few fruits/vegetables as long as I can remember. And, now it is wall to wall fast food places.
