3 Reasons Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
AP

Women are haters. And when they hate, they are "weapons-grade haters."

That’s according to a very playfully toned article by Time magazine’s Belinda Luscombe. The article points out that after Palin’s initial bump in the polls, many of the voters who are now deserting the Alaska governor fastest are women. And it often has nothing to do with her stance on abortion, support for gun rights or the fact she can’t name a newspaper she reads

Luscombe goes on to explain: And once you’re on our hate list – we’ll find a million things wrong with you: hair, voice, hot husband, etc … Admit it, you’ve hated another woman for the mere fact that her hair looks better than yours, or that she is still a size 4 after having three kids.

"When women get their hate on, they don’t just dislike, or find disfavor with, or sort of not really appreciate. They loathe — deeply, richly, sustainingly," she said. "I do not say this to disparage my gender; women also love in more or less the same way."

Those that don’t like John McCain’s running mate don’t necessarily hate her for her politics, but for many of the same reasons some women hate Hillary Clinton. It’s more because these ladies can’t simply pass the test of: "Will the other girls like her?"

Luscombe then goes through the three reasons why Palin doesn’t make the grade: She’s too pretty (after all, pretty girls are only liked by other pretty girls), she’s too confident (most women have self-esteem issues) and she could embarrass us (you screw this up, Sarah, and the rest of us are screwed at work, too).

Funny and good article. Not off mark. But i wasn’t one of those school girl haters when i was in school so it doesn’t fit me personally. I don’t dislike her as a person I dislike what she represents about McCain. And he’s wanting to run the country I live in. I’m disgusted with HIM for choosing her. Watching the debates last night I thought about McCain “you piece of sh—”. THIS is what you bring to us? You think so little of us? And i don’t see her confidence as confidence. i see it as a lack of depth and understanding. I also totally agree that her looks are going against her. but more with men than women. Men have a hard time taking seriously the women they want to bang. At least initially.

Hate is a pretty strong word. She is actually very likeable. I’ve never been a “hater” of anything. In my opinion, we all have our own-worth and as long as you know it, who really cares what others think of you?

I agree with thatsoutherngirl k. Hate is a strong word. I’ve never hated another woman as the author of the article suggests we all have “for the mere fact that her hair looks better than yours, or that she is still a size 4 after having three kids.” There are plenty of women who I don’t admire and even dislike … for instance catty woman haters who do what they can to subvert other women with whatever cheap shot they can devise - yeah, that sort of woman makes the entire gender look bad and riles me to no end. I’m not wasting my time reading trash like that article.

Marjorie C. I just this as a way for these “staff writers” that are in the tank for obama to get back at those that aren’t. PALIN did an excellent job last night and they can’t stand it. TOUGH!

Palin didn’t do a good job at the debate. She didn’t answer some of the questions at all. She didn’t modify any of her comments based on what has been previously disputed and resolved. It sounded as if she memorized several short paragraphs based on a key word in the moderator’s question. For example, if the moderator asked somethinig about war, Palin spouted her usual paragraph about the war she had memorized, whether or not it actually answered the specific question. Same thing with energy/global warming. She was like a doll you pull the string on to get a response. I am sure her training involved someone pitching her a key word and her spouting her papragraph. They probably told her not to even listen to the actual question being asked, but just listen for the key word. Very odd and not at all reassuring to the voters.

Most of the Democratic Senators and Congressmen, who voted for Bush’s resolution to go to into Iraq, believed there were weapons of mass destruction, or have you forgotten that, of course they were wrong to continue the war, and of course they are against an illegal war, brought on by a lying President and VP. The sad part is we are still there, the so called surge (additional men to be killed) was suppose to be bring about a political peace, it has not, and Al Queda, has re-grouped and went back to the borders of Pakistanl where there were all along. The terrorist are everywhere, and anyone who thinks they are just in Iraq, are idiots. We need to leave Iraq, we have done as much as we can, by getting rid of Saddam, one the reasons Bush went there and the oil of course, not to find and kill Osama bin Laden. The neo-con, phony values republican have to go, because John McCain is war monger will continue the occupation of Iraq, because he is an idiot, and shell shocked from the Vietnam war.

I fully believe there were WMD and they were removed when Bush gave Saddam the final warning that he was going to strike on such and such a date and time and that time frame alloted for Saddam to move those weapons out. I also believe they were quite possibly relocated into Syria. Your rendition of the surge (addition men to be killed) is moronic at best. When Gen Patreas states over and over again, that the surge IS working, well I’ll tend to believe his rendition over your’s anyday. Let me remind you, that I have been there and I have taken troops in and out of the war zone and these men and women know that what they are doing, is making a difference. You on the other hand are nothing more than a backseat driver. Furthermore if you think that the terrorist are only in the Pakastani region, or only scattered throughout the Middle East, then your the idiot! There are terrorist cells hot and heavy, planted all over this world, many right here under your nose and in your backyard. Anyone who want’s to sit around having tea and crumpets with an maniacal leader, who truly believes that Isreal has no right to exist and should be wiped off the map, is a dangerous minded man and not fit to run this country, let alone protect it. The fact that the Iraqi people are no longer under a ruthless tyranical dictator, is enough for me. McCain is not a war monger as you so state but rather a man who has been to war and has defended this country and your right to be the idiot that you are in suggesting such. You say he is shell shocked from Nam and an idiot, What’s your excuse?

come on, your assurance of WMD? Hearsay—-as terrorist—-what do ya call the white-boy that blew-up the IRS building—-what do ya call ‘The Klan’? quite alive, up and down both coasts, and in between—-far harder to see Mcvey(?) coming, vs. ‘external threats’. so, which terrorist do we watch? if you may not see this bush war as both illegal; and one ‘Monster’-Mess’—-simply stoking terrorist fires?

elaine: Very odd and not at all reassuring to the voters. Gov. Palin might not have assured Obama voters, but she did a lot to reassure her own base. Debates are not like a Katie Couric interview. In the previous debate, Jim Lehrer asked McCain and Obama about three times what they would remove from their agenda based on the economic meltdown we’re experiencing and he never got an answer. Gwen Ifill reiterated the question and got some silly ‘cut foreign aid’ answer from Senator Biden, and some generic answer from Gov. Palin. That is the way debates play out. We got long, boring history lessons from Biden and folksy soccer-mom antedotes from Palin. In between we got inaccuracies from both sides. Palin was nervous, you could hear it in her voice. She is young. This was her first debate on a national scale. Overall, she did very well. Problem is, the Democrats were hoping she’d dissolve into tears or hesitate at every answer as Obama does, but it didn’t happen and it is for that reason the Dems are giving her bad marks. Obama supporters are so anxious to criticize in an ugly way everything this young woman has accomplished, that I’ve come to wonder if having a stone heart is one of the qualifications for being an Obama supporter.

Marjorie, I’m guessing you wiped your brow and heaved a tremendous sigh of relief on Thursday night. I won’t be voting for McCain and I’m certainly no fan of Palin, but I’m pleased that she didn’t tank as predicted by many. Bless my “stone heart,” I’m sick to death of this ridiculous sideshow.
