Be sure to watch Lily Tomlin tonight on FXat 10:00, Eastern and Pacific times; 9:00, Central time. She is now starring in season three of the spectacular series, "Damages" (with Glenn Close). Click here to read what today’s New York Times says about her performance.
I find that my admiration grows for Lily Tomlin, a woman who know and adore as a very funny woman … but now see in new light in her transformation in a serious role with undertones that are not meant to make us laugh, but to inwardly smile as we look at genius at work. What we see is someone who probably found long before this that yes! she can be a chameleon if only given the opportunity to extend her range. For those who haven’t yet seen Damages (FX), you have been missing a lot, but now you have an even more special reason to tune in - as our Lily will be cheered on by all of us. If congratulations are in order, Lily, they are forthcoming — but I really want to say "It’s about time!" Joan
Beautifully said, Joan. I agree. I can’t wait to see her in this role. I think Lily can do anything Lily wants to do. She’s made me laugh too many times to count, and I’m sure she could make me cry if her role called for that. Here’s to you, Lily. You go, girl!
Thanks for the heads up on FB Serena. I watched it last night for the first time and I’m totally addicted already! I called my friend that owns the fine arts video store here (9th St. video) and she is looking into buying the previous seasons so that those of us who want to catch up can rent the episodes. She promised me she would do it today!
Damages has trenchant and spellbinding writing. Every actor should be so lucky as Ms. Tomlin to exercise her chops on this drama. And then there’s Tracey Ullman’s premiere of her new season in case you need more feasting after Ms. Tomlin.
Yea Lily!!! Can’t wait to see you on "Damages". It is a fascinating and thrilling show. As others have said, if you haven’t seen this program, try to make time for it. You won’t regret it.
