Hey 'SNL,' This Is Not Ann Coulter (Video)

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
"Ann Coulter" on "SNL"

"Saturday Night Live" doesn’t have the highest opinion of Ann Coulter.

The Conservative — whose controversial views never fail to spark debate — was portrayed this weekend on "Saturday Night Live" as a nonsensical blonde dimwit. During "Weekend Update" with Seth Meyers, "Coulter" insisted:

We need to listen to President Bush when he tells us history will judge this war. And it might take 100 years. And you won’t be here. And George Bush won’t be here. But I will still be here, thanks to a medical procedure I undergo twice a year at a Swiss mountain facility …

I love torture. I think torture is good and Christian-y.

When Meyers questioned Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina, "Coulter" offered a swift rejoinder:

Sure, it was bad. But think about it — we don’t know how many hurricanes President Bush prevented.

Whoa. Do you think "SNL" pushed the envelope a bit too far here? Watch:

Does this sketch simply add more fuel to the argument she makes in her new book, Guilty, about how the liberal media tends to assault those who disagree with them? Or, are you laughing along with "SNL"?

Looks like an accurate depiction to me. Ratings must be pretty low on the shows that feel the need to instigate the wrestling match circus that she creates. But here’s what some of you don’t know. If Coulter truly believes the things that she says and she keeps getting this type of publicity, spewing her venomous nonsense; then I hope she is getting an immortality serum because that mind-set usually has a short shelf life.

Being funny is one thing, but what television & Hollywood has become, is a meduim that seems to think anything & everything goes (acceptable). We have seen this over the last 40 years or so, become what this nation is about. There are no longer any limits of good behavior, shown by a large part of the people in this nation. No respect for decency, other rights, & certainly no morale standards. We than wonder wy our children do what do, show no respect. They are learning from the adults. As our pastor said a while back, If you want to see why your kids act like they do, look at your self in the mirror.

Robert - SNL did to her what they do to all people who are news headliners..political or otherwise. It was a riff on what she is like. How do you think they should portral Coulter - maybe in an apron, making coookies and saying sweet things? What was unacceptable about this? This is what she is like - exaggerated, and it’s a comedy show. Don’t let the children watch this if you feel it will be harmful.

Since this one is about humor read this: Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher here in southern California, was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Harry Reid’s great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor. On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: ‘Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.’ So Judy recently e-mailed Senator Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle. Believe it or not, Harry Reid’s staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research: ‘Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.’ NOW THAT is how it’s done folks! That’s real SPIN.

Excuse me? Are we smarting at the Coulter portrayal? Why? It’s no different from their rendition of Will Farrell doing George Bush(which he is taking to Broadway), the renditions of Gore, Perot, Cheney, and god knows how many public figures. The art of the imitation is to capture the essence of the person being portrayed. Why would SNL be accused of “pushing the envelope to far”? And, why is it being called the Liberal Media, an expression of which I am becoming increasingly weary of by the way, when it seems to be a ritual with this show to satirize the famous? And, this actor did a very credible job of capturing the essence of Ann Coulter—angry rage delivered in a sophomoric manner.

NOW THAT is how it’s done folks! That’s real SPIN. By Robert Thompson on 01/19/2009 6:19 pm Robert, SNL did an accurate portrayal of Ann Coulter. You keep talking about decency, having a sense of decorum and respect for others. The image they get from television and liberals. So Robert Ann Coulter is the role model for your daughters. She has a mouth like a sewer, no respect for others and her dress is questionable.

Starry lighten up. That entire post was an email that I recieved. NONE of those words were mine. (NOW THAT is how it’s done folks! That’s real SPIN) They were written by who ever was the author, not by me. It was a satire on Politcal Spin at its greatests. It was not a rebuttal to anything

Why doesn’t SNL make skits on Obama? Because Hollywood and most of the media is left biased. I can’t wait till the Obama lovefest is over, which it will be eventually and the “dummycrats” always eat their own.

Now , now your jealousy is showing here…you lost the election and no amount of name calling will ever change that. It’s sad I know but you have to get a life and move on.

Ann Coulter is apparently serious about what she says, SNL is rarely serious. They do not pretend to be anything but a comedy with albeit, a political bent. SNL makes fun of everyone in the public eye, Ann Coulter has a single minded agenda, she is harsh, she enjoys being outrageous (oops, so does SNL), so there is room for some comparison.
