Ashley Judd Tells wOw She's Shoring up Support in Palin Wolf War

Editor’s Note: Ashley Judd, who squared off with Sarah Palin over the governor’s possible plan to allow aerial wolf hunting, sent this note to wOw last night. Now we’re passing it along to you.

Hi Friends,

This is a humble request for  energetic and prayerful support. In the wake … the huge wake … of attention surrounding the video I filmed on behalf of slaughtered wolves in the state of Alaska, which was organized by the impeccable organization Defenders of Wildlife and explicitly seeks to expose Sarah Palin’s anti-wildlife mania, I have agreed to appear on "Larry King Live" tomorrow, Friday February 6!!!!

At first I said no to all requests, and boy, have they been rolling in. I wanted to put principles before personalities; once my personality helped attract attention to the atrocities, I wanted to let Defenders’ principles be the answer to all inquiries and further news stories. However, there has been a wild and unexpected amount of attention and "Larry King" seemed like a good time and place to efficiently make one appearance. Rodger S., president and CEO of Defenders, will join me; my hope is that his presence helps to make it less about me as an individual and much more focused on the urgency of stopping the aerial slaughter of wolves.

As you can imagine, this is hugely important to me. Your support is invaluable. May my thoughts, speech and actions be guided by the Power greater than ourselves that loves all beings everywhere.

Xo,
Ashley, Wolf Song Deer Walker

Wolf Song Deer Walker…was how she signed this letter. So I guess she since she has an Indian name with the wolves she feels more compelled to fight for them. I am not knocking her fight, truly Im not b/c I am not for killing them from planes but if that is the only way to control a wild animal from killing humans or domestic animals, I guess that is the only way. Like many have said on this site…what does Judd think should be done with them? Let them roam free…thats great for her b/c she isnt living where they are roaming. Let her try to go to her car and there be wolves surrounding her, her name wont get her out of that situation.

C Hardy—I hope you realize that I thought your comment where you used her “Native American” name was very clever! I thought it was funny—I was laughing with you. How ridiculous “Wolf song deer walker”. You always have a way of making it real—getting to the point—I appreciate that in a person.

C Hardy—“Let her try to go to her car and there be wolves surrounding her, her name wont get her out of that situation.”—Now again, that is just too funny! You are cracking me up here!

Merrell…I am not buying into fear, not sure where that came from…If you google wolf attacks you can find plenty of them. Not going to cute and paste them for you. I was not putting her name down…I think its great you get in touch with your Indian heritage, but also think its funny we have never heard them say she had Indian roots.

cut me a break merrell! —“do not deride indian names please”—that is not what C hardy was doing. We were making fun of JUDD—she’s ridiculous. Her “indian name” is not REAL, so it hardly comes with “honor and responsibility”. She is just a silly person, who should be treated as such.

It had been done in the past and was outlawed (as most true hunters consider it a disgusting thing)… Palin put state funds behind a campaign to get it voted back in as legal, then put more state funds behind collecting the front left leg (that provides no scientific data)

I’m so tired of the predictable conservative response to every issue. Abortion isn’t the topic we’re discussing but somehow it becomes their arguement. I support anyone working to protect Wildlife. Go Ms. Judd.

Abortion isn’t the topic we’re discussing but somehow it becomes their arguement. “…………I have the same frustration about LIBS making everything bad in the world Palin’s fault! It is like they have transferred their Bush Derrangement Syndrom to her..so they can have someone to kick around!

All the best to Ashly Judd and all who work to protect Wildlife … not just in Alaska, but everywhere on this planet.

This is ridiculous; Ashlee Judd doesn’t even know what she is talking about. Maybe she should come to Alaska and live here a bit before she goes on tv criticizing something she knows nothing about. I wonder if they even mentioned how wolves were coming into Anchorage, attaching and eating people’s dogs. Or how a large pack of wolves ate almost an entire sled dog mushing team, in a small village and threaten the whole town. Children weren’t able to walk to school. Or what about the people who live in the bush villages and rely on caribou and moose meat to feed their family. If we don’t have the aerial hunts to take control the outrageous wolf population that are killing off these creatures, how are they supposed to live?? People need to read all the facts before expressing their opinions.

You are so right merrell, most of the people writing do not live in Alaska and sound like they do not like wild animals in general. The native people of Alaska along with many others are not in favor of ariel hunting. When Gov. Knowles was in office it was handled much better.
