Attention Conspiracy Theorists: Obama Birth Certificate Verified

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Some right-wing talk-show hosts and commentators have been trying to get the mainstream media to pick up on the story that perhaps Barack Obama wasn’t really born in the U.S., but in his father’s country of Kenya, and therefore can’t be president.

Some even said Obama’s recent trip to Hawaii to visit his ill grandmother had something to do with him trying to clean up some scent of a scandal surrounding his birth records. But AOL’s Political Machine notes today that even though Obama’s campaign long ago released copies of his birth certificate to the media to quiet that noise, it wasn’t enough. So on Friday, the Director of Hawaii’s Department of Health, Dr. Chimoye Fukino, "finally got tired of listening to ridiculous chorus coming from McCain/Palin supporters and he went to personally inspect the original birth certificate."

Hawaii state law does not allow someone’s birth certificate to be released to anyone outside of the family, so Fukino and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, said they personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

"Therefore, I, as Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

Fukino said that no state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama’s certificate be handled differently from any other.

Earlier Friday, a southwest Ohio judge rejected a challenge to Obama’s citizenship. Judges in Seattle and Philadelphia recently dismissed similar suits, AP reports

Thanks for writing about this. The depths to which the John McCain, his campaign, it’s surrogates and the Right Wing fringe surrounding them have been willing to go to in order to attempt to scare America into voting against reason is just more evidence that a McCain win would be 4 more years of what we have had with Bush. No wonder Cheney endorsed McCain, why wouldn’t he want 4 more years of the same?

Senator Obama was the natural child of a United States Citizen. it doesn’t matter where he was born since that gives him a U.S. Citizen status.

Mary…the Child Citizenship Act didn’t take effect until 27 Feb. 2001. Children who were 18 years of age or older on that date did not acquire American citizenship from the Child Citizenship Act of 2000. The child must meet the following requirements: Have at least one American citizen parent by birth or naturalization; Be under 18 years of age; Live in the legal and physical custody of the American citizen parent; and Be admitted as an immigrant for lawful permanent residence. In addition, if the child is adopted, the adoption must be full and final.

James, Thanks. Even prior to the 2000 act, in situations where only one parent is a United States citizen, they must have lived in the United States for at least five years at some point before the child’s birth as a full American citizen, and at least two of these five years must have occurred after the parent’s 14th birthday. We know that his grandparents and mother moved to Hawaii in 1960, after it became a state. His father was there until he graduated in 1962 and Senator Obama was born 8/4/61 and is reported and certified to have been born in Maui. They do keep trying to clarify it over and over. My job has been with International Students that frequently come to college just to have their baby in the United States. Often they never actually attend college, they have their doctors certify “disability” status and they stay in the country, without actually attending college until the baby is born. The baby is then a United States Citizen. The same issue of course with illegal aliens and childbirth. That will also need to be addressed someday.

Correct that children born of American parents overseas are American citizens, but they are not yet eligible to run for president, because that is a section of the Constitution that has yet to be clarified. McCain is running on the basis of a Senate resolution which states children born of active duty military are eligible. Leaves a bunch of kids out. Peace and grace

Beth, We can make anything complicated. Makes you really wonder about their motive… Any bets on whether they will try to challenge after the votes are counted tomorrow ? I don’t think so.

There’s now a conspiracy theory under every leaf, and the 24/7 news media eat it up, and perpetuate it. Anything to fill the news void, truth and accuracy be darned. I get so sick of hearing about the so-called “liberal” media. The radio airwaves are bombarded with the likes of Limbaugh, Ingraham, Bennett, Prager, Hannity, Beck, Levin and Hewitt. There is Fox News, the many Republican-owned newspaper chains, TV outlets and Internet sites. What we have nowadays is a radical media. The networks have been reporting for weeks that Obama has a big lead, but now that they need to hype their Election Night TV coverage, the talking heads are telling us how “the race is tightening”, “it may be closer than we expected,” blah, blah. Anything to spike the TV ratings. Telling the truth - that the election figures to be a landslide - would hurt their precious ratings (dollars). The ones we really should be suspicious of are the corporate-owned media, because their news “judgment” is driven by the dollar. Once the bean-counters started sticking their noses into the newsroom, that’s when credibility went out the window.

Radical media … that’s a perfect descriptive, James. And it applies to favoritism to either side of the aisle.

I really hope this clears it up but I wish they would have done this sooner…I am tired of hearing about it but I do wish they would have just done this months ago when it was first asked for b/c now it does seem they are just saying this after Obama went down there…I really truly hope what they say is true but now a days you dont know who to trust, do we? Oh well, and I am not implying that Obama is not a natural born citizen…I never followed that story b/c that wasnt a deciding factor for me.

This whole thing is a ‘projection’ attempt by the McCain campaign, IMO, as it seems that McCain was not born on the miltary base hospital where his father was stationed—-and in fact was born a Panamanian citizen—-which is why Congress had that ‘special vote’ several months back to formally approve his eligibility to run for POTUS. Personally, every time I hear of another attack on Obama, from the McCain camp, I google the subject of the attack along with McCain—-and guess what? A LOT of things that he accuses Obama of, are seemingly, in fact, something that McCain has done…and the ‘deflection effort’ begins….

HOW RACISM WORKS What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said ‘I do’ to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards? What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the Keating-5? What if McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker? PS: What if Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter…. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference. You are The Boss… which team would you hire? With America facing historic debt, 2 wars, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. Educational Background: Obama: Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations. Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude Biden: University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science. Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.) vs. McCain: United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899 Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study Universi t y of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism Now, which team are you going to hire ?

So true Patty… the bar is so high for a Black man or a woman (unless you are the Republican VP candidate!) and appears to be quite low if you are a White male.

Patty, That’s a great post. The thing with this was that the Republicans through the FBI or other agencies including private investigators, could have easily submitted documents if this certificate was false, but were not able to. Even with this latest news, I doubt it will calm the doubters.
