In case you missed it, three females and a transgender pregnant man made Barbara Walters’s "Ten Most Fascinating People of the Year" list, which aired last night on ABC. While dames didn’t constitute the majority, being over 40 did! Seven out of the ten headliners were people over the age of 40. Here’s the list:

1. Barack Obama, 47, First black president of the United States

2. Tom Cruise, 46, Actor

3. Sarah Palin, 44, Governor of Alaska/John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate

4. Frank Langella, 68, Actor

5. Thomas Beatie, 34, Pregnant "man"

6. Rush Limbaugh, 57, Conservative radio host

7. Tina Fey, 38, Actor, comedienne, writer, aka Sarah Palin impersonator for "SNL"

8. Miley Cyrus, 16, pop singer

9. Michael Phelps, 23, Olympic gold metalist

10. Will Smith, 40, actor

Tell us: Were these the "most fascinating" people in 2008 (c’mon, Will Smith)?

In your opinion, who else deserves the title?

This is funny, Sandbee…. I will keep it in my arsenal for suffering fools gladly…. When the pompous self-important blowhards see me smiling and nodding, little will they know that I’m thinking about what you said….

Ten Most Fascinating People of the Year” ? There were a few I just couldn’t see making that list. Thomas Beatie, now he’s diffrent but fascinating, not in my book. Rush Limbaugh, he’s just a loud mouth. Tom Cruise, he’s cute but this year’s most fascinating? Will Smith, has had a great career so far, but what made this year diffrent? Frank Langella, I just knew him from being in the movie “Dave” and that was awhile ago. Miley Cyrus, guess I’m too old to appreciate a teenager being on of the most fascinating people. Tina Fey, is a maybe. Whe was fascinating to watch on SNL. Seems like there should be more fascinating people then these people. Obama is a big yes. That was a give me. Sarah she even gets a yes. Michael Phelps, well he was a shoe in. Wonder who picks these winners? I’m sure it’s not Barbara.

I am confused by the list. Maybe I’m getting older. I don’t know what the criteria is . Celebrity status? Other than being a Celebrity what else? I know Celebrity sells but couldn’t they be unique. I don’t understand Tom Cruise or Will Smith- Sarah Palin, Obama, Phelps a big yes. Tina Fey maybe- I have many words for Rush Limbaugh but fascinating is not one of them. The pregnant man/women- no

Number one should have been the media (msnbc, et al) who spun the Obama web.

I think it is sad that Barbara Walters who is a lovely person and was a trail-blazer sinks so low in most of these choices that reflect what is devolving America, Rush? Give me a break. How about some of the innovators who are coming up with real environmental, scientific, medical or social breakthroughs. If a light were shinned on them that would propel the innovators, make us all feel better about human achievement and possibilies for the future. I would not watch this show….a nearly total waste of time.

What? No Britney Spears on your list, Barbara? How can there be a list of people who fascinate us without Britney? Miley Cyrus has me all agog—but Britney! WOW. Now she’s fascinating. Did her head itch when her hair grew back? America wants to know.
