Bette Midler isn’t singing in the new year. A source told PerezHilton.com (the site owned by the king of Internet gossip, Perez Hilton) that Midler’s Las Vegas tour is opening to smaller crowds than anticipated. 

"Between December 30th and January 4th, Midler performed five shows and only sold out one," a source told the website. "That’s embarrassing! All those shows should have been sold out. It was the holidays!" Hilton blames the economy, and we agree. In times like these, it seems something’s gotta give!

Midler’s Las Vegas extravaganza premiered last year at Caesars Palace, and according to Midler took off with "rave reviews and sold-out houses. "I couldn’t be more excited!" she wrote on her website. But then she adds, "If you haven’t been to Vegas to see me, hop a plane or steal a car but get your ass out here."
