Birthday Girl Liz Smith Says 'Thank You'!

Liz Smith

Dear Friends,

I was planning to ignore my 86th birthday but you have made this impossible and now I am really enjoying it. I thank each and every single one of you for your divine greetings and good thoughts and flattering b.s., and I only hope to collect more of all of this as the next few years go by.

Eighty-six may not be a perfect age, but consider the alternative. Love to each and every one of you.

I am sincerely touched.

LIZ SMITH

Today is a celebration . . . a celebration of THE lady that all of us aim for in our own lives - and find we can’t quite achieve. You are so full of life and living it to the fullest and - as you have read — there is not a one of us that doesn’t try to emulate you . . . the sparkly, darling gal who never fails to make us believe that we, too, can reach for the sky and grab those stars that you have not already gathered. Your circle of friends that truly love you WE see as a multitude - for each has stopped in their own busy days and written you from their hearts. Gather those wishes close — and know, Liz, that - to all who know you - you are the best “one of a kind”, the best kind, in our universe. Our hugs may be sent from afar, but may they enclose you in warmth … and in love. May your world continue to be full of all good things and your smile as glorious as ever . . . for LIz, you have the world on a string!!! Joan

TEXAS IQ TEST In the following list, circle the person of whom Texas is justifiably proud: a) George Bush b) Tony Romo in December c) Liz Smith. If you circled Liz Smith, you are a winner. She makes everybody feel like a winner. In person or in her Good-Hearted Gossip column. Liz, in a town of strangers, you make families wherever you go. We feel like your brother and sister. Somewhat warily, we came to the big city Lookin’ for Love and found you. You’re the Blond Rose of Texas. You’re Always on Our Mind. Unlike some we could mention, you’re not Crazy. Also you’re not Asleep at the Wheel. Nor are you from El Paso. Or Galveston. We’d love to Waltz Across Texas with You. Everything’s Bigger in Texas which helps explain your heart. You definitely have a metaphorical Fiddle in Your Band. There’s a Long Tall Texan who adores you. You have the Eyes of Texas because you know everything about everybody. You’re living proof that Texas Women Don’t Stay Lonely Long because everybody loves you. We really hope you love Songs About Texas. As we love absolutely love you. Happy Birthday! Love, Lesley and Aaron

Liz I thought you were my age 62 or so. I can’t believe this much time has passed how do you stay so young with your mind…You are my hero and you’ve given me much hope that I can be like you when I’m in my eighties. I’ve been obsessed with thinking most of my life is over and now your birthday has brightened my imagination as to what I can still accomplish.. Thank you so much for giving me a gift on your birthday helping me feel an even fuller life is still to come for me. Wishing you many more years….of success and happiness. One of the coolest things about being an Aquarian is that the most interesting info comes to us unasked. My favorite piece, (the one I actively work with) is the tale that Einstein’s last serious project was the proof that there is no such thing as time. One piece of that is the idea that man (men) grew uncomfortable with the infinite unwinding of the seasons and had to cut it down into chunks small enough that they could wrap their minds around them. That is when the infinite unwinding spiral became a closed wheel which was called a year. What I tell my dear aquarians is that really, there are no such things as years (except in the minds of men). What we truly are is ageless godesses, and as soon as we wrap our mind around that it becomes our reality. Have the cake, presents and adulation, but don’t take the years they are meaningless, a manmade social convention. Happy Life Day Liz I have enjoyed you forever.
