Blago's Tell-All Book to Expose 'Dark Side of Politics'

They say write what you know. And, well, Rod Blagojevich is doing just that.

The former Illinois governor and his agent confirmed this week that he has signed a six-figure book deal to expose "the dark side of politics." The working title for the book is The Governor.

Blagojevich, who was ousted from office about a month ago, faces federal charges for trying to sell President Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder. In a media blitz last month, the ex-governor denied those charges, insisting that a series of recorded phone conversations leaked by investigators that appear to show Blagojevich negotiating for a higher price were taken out of context.

Blagojevich said in a press release the book will set the record straight by focusing on the "discussion, considerations and the factors involved" in choosing Obama’s successor in the Senate.

Even the book’s publisher admitted to the Chicago Tribune that he’s shocked by the ex-governor’s willingness to write a tell-all account while also facing a criminal trial. Blagojevich has already lost a top defense lawyer over his many public appearances.

The book is expected to be released in October by Phoenix Books.

I suggest we make a law similar to the one that is currently in most states denying any benefits to criminals from exploiting their crimes for politicians found guilty of misconduct.  For example, if a person is guilty of murder, they cannot sell the rights of their story for profit.  Why should it be different for disgraced (and booted out of office) politicians?

I don’t believe it is right that this guy is going to get six figures for cheapening the office of governor and indeed the good people of Illinois.  If we deny monetary compensation to criminals, can’t we extend that to politicians?

What are you afraid of????  I’m anxious to hear what he has to say….should be entertaining!

Tell me you would feel the same  if he was the opposite party???

SJ:  I’m not afraid of anything.  I just don’t think he should profit from his crimes.  Maybe the profits should go to a charity, but not to him and his party.

If he was a Republican (my party), I would feel the same way.

Blago has yet to be charged with a crime yet….so I think he is doing his book deal before he does….if they do ever charge him….why haven’t they???  They should not have jumped the boat and waited for the exchange of money to take place first….

Blago will spill the beans….and I’m certain there are plenty of democrats who are starting to shake inside.   He knows how Chicago politics works.   He has a few favors to pay back to those who turned their backs on him.   He will be worse than "a scorned woman."

I believe we will read about those who actually "lifted Obama" up to the democratic party….more about his radical affiliations as well as his sealed background information.

No one expects that his entire book will be the truth.   However, that being said, if only l/3 of it is true it will be quite an eye opener.

Blago is mad.     I hope he stays that way until the book is finished.

The main problem that Blago faced was that he was an outsider in the Democratic Party. They isolated him so he went rogue.

If he has a real tale to tell I would head to the Australian Outback to write it.   But the truth is, without extensive documentation he is just telling tales, those who want to believe him will, those who don’t will not.

Wgich side do you suppose the media will come down on?

Did he write of book of fiction? I didn’t know that. I only read one book from him, the one in which he exposed Bush and his administration for what we all know them to be.

I must have missed the one you’re referring to.

So here’s the plan, Gang!

1.  Don’t buy the book.

2.  Friends won’t let friends buy the book.

Anything he comes up with of any interest whatsoever will appear on the web within a nanosecond, so we can each pick a Barnes and Noble and stand next to the pile of books and remind folks:

3. "Don’t buy the book!"
