The Annals of Internal Medicine has released a study that shows that coffee drinking, even a long-term multi-cups-per-day coffee habit, is not associated with increased deaths among women. And among women who reported drinking two to three cups per day, the study found a 25 percent lower risk of deaths from heart disease.

Among women who reported drinking two to three cups per day, the study found a 25 percent lower risk of deaths from heart disease.

The study is called “The Relationship of Coffee Consumption with Mortality” and was funded by a research grant from the National Institutes of Health. It was led by Esther Lopez-Garcia of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Spain. Among the most intriguing findings is the suggestion that drinking large amounts of coffee may actually be beneficial to women.

The study followed 84,214 women from 1980 to 2004, each a participant in the well-regarded Nurses’ Health Study, which Wikipedia calls “the most definitive long-term epidemiological studies conducted to date on older women’s health.”

hmmmmmmmm…… While caffeine may be ok for some people…..if your cardiologist or doctor tells you to limit your caffeine or to not drink it at all……people please listen to your doctor and not some article written by someone who doesn’t know your health history. Rant over.

Like so many things, the opinions have gone back and forth on coffee for a very long time. I used to drink coffee all day long at the studio and loved it. A nice cup with cream after lunch, yummy! But now I have 2 or 3 cups in the morning, and drink herbal tea at work. Moderation in all things, then I CAN enjoy what I want. Well…..except cigarettes….won’t have those, no sir. :-)

One hundred percent of people who fret over the daily, ever-changing litany of things that are good for you/things that will kill you, add unhealthy stress to their lives. Is being opinionated bad for my heart?

Kitty — if so you and I are branded!!! It seems every day there is a new study about something else “that’s bad for you” or will cause some great catastrophic meaning to our health. Who are these “study” people? Maybe they sit in a locked room and are forbidden to leave until they come up with something else to scare the general public. The tomato thing is driving me nuts. So, I just quite eating the darn things. As far as coffee — at the rate I drink the stuff - I should live a long long life.

You are so clever, Lady Gator. Who ARE these study people? I propose that our web well-connected web sponsor sisters seek them out for a little chat. We’re probably eons more interesting than their lab rat friends.

It’s the same people who are chained in basements until they come up with their quota of paint color names….

Georgia —-I have a new paint name for the basement people——A friend of mine just painted the outside of her house - I would call it “Mustard Yuck”. Sure would hate to come home with a hangover in the middle of the day!

I should have suggested in light of the coffee topic, Mocha Madness, Espresso Excitement, Java Jubilee, Cappucino Cream, etc… I can really “see” Mustard Yuck…At least it wasn’t Old Leftover. Now that faux finishes come in standardized kits, I want to see one called One Bad Ombre…
