Sarah Palin's Daughter, Bristol, Gives Birth to Healthy Baby Boy

Sarah Palin is a grandmother.

Daughter Bristol, 18, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy on Saturday, People Magazine is reporting. The healthy 7 lb., 7 oz. baby is named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. He got his surname from hockey dad Levi Johnston, who has been dating Bristol for three years.

"We think it’s wonderful," Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, told People. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

News of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy broke after Sen. John McCain chose Palin as his running mate in the White House race. Johnston, also 18, was soon seen on the campaign trail with the Palins. Johnson said in October that he plans to marry his high-school sweetheart next year.

Palin’s office did not return phone messages Monday.

The Alaska governor, who has a newborn herself, told Access Hollywood last month that she would support her daughter.

"Bristol is a very strong young woman and she’s going to be just fine and a wonderful mom," Palin said.

"Bristol and I and the rest of the family know this is a team effort. And to be thrust like that into a spotlight on a national scene was perhaps an unfair shot to be taken. But really, if we don’t have thick enough skin at this time, as candidates, and I consider our whole family – this is a candidacy for all of us, we shouldn’t even be running for office. But we know it’s all going to be worth it in the end."

Congrats to the new parents. I hope their lives are blessed with a healthy son. I pray the news media will leave them alone as much as possible and the world now knows Trig is not her son and should owe this young lady an apology for all the horrible things said about her. Being young parents is hard enough and I truly wish them Health, Safety, Joy & Happiness.

I think the Palin family is truly bless. The cowards such as some of the WOWOW members and the news media should apologize.

Tripp? You’ve got to be kidding me—did granny name him from her cell?

Guess the next one will be Falll, that’s what happens after you Tripp. I do wish them well though. She is just a young girl placed in the very awkward situation of being way too much in the news.

I am curious about one thing. Why, after they realized they were pregnant, did they not just go on and tie the knot and make this thing all legal? Are they planning a fluffy white June wedding with all the trimmings or something? Tripp? I immediately thought of Linda.

Who knows with that family?

Actually down here in Kentucky, Tripp is a common name. Not unusual to hear it used as a nick name. But with one P, not 2. I still can’t understand why they aren’t married if they intend to be.

And she reportedly received 300k for baby photos—that ought to pay the hospital bills. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/29/bristol-palin-baby-son-tr_n_154…

Yeah, I’ve seen it all over the wires by now. So much for baby having a quiet, normal and unexploited life. Look, I know that there are unwed mothers everywhere—this has been happening to young girls since Eve’s time, but I just have a problem with the big deal. What has our society become that people get all this money for the purpose of seeing their baby for the first time? It’s not just the Palin kid, I sort of feel for her; it’s all the hoop-la over all of these celebrity babies that command up into the millions for a baby picture simply because it sells magazines. I guess my nick name should be Grinch?

Grinch? hell no! You’re an intelligent caring woman with high standards and that’s a damn sight more than I can say for many in this country. I agree that the media generates this crap and I see no end to it—Look at People magazine—it’s a big nothing. Yet millions read the damned thing. And People willingly pays top dollar for all the smut and gossip it can lay hands on. I says a great deal about this society IMO.

Thank you, I needed that. We go around wondering what is wrong in our nation—well the whole world for that matter—, and I just think we have been dumbed down to the point where we have lost our standards of what constitutes good taste. But, I have to admit something, Frank: What is the first thing I go for when I am in the doctor/dentist’s waiting room? You guessed it, People Magazine. So, I am not above it, either.
