Sarah Palin's Daughter, Bristol, Gives Birth to Healthy Baby Boy

Sarah Palin is a grandmother.

Daughter Bristol, 18, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy on Saturday, People Magazine is reporting. The healthy 7 lb., 7 oz. baby is named Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston. He got his surname from hockey dad Levi Johnston, who has been dating Bristol for three years.

"We think it’s wonderful," Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, told People. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

News of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy broke after Sen. John McCain chose Palin as his running mate in the White House race. Johnston, also 18, was soon seen on the campaign trail with the Palins. Johnson said in October that he plans to marry his high-school sweetheart next year.

Palin’s office did not return phone messages Monday.

The Alaska governor, who has a newborn herself, told Access Hollywood last month that she would support her daughter.

"Bristol is a very strong young woman and she’s going to be just fine and a wonderful mom," Palin said.

"Bristol and I and the rest of the family know this is a team effort. And to be thrust like that into a spotlight on a national scene was perhaps an unfair shot to be taken. But really, if we don’t have thick enough skin at this time, as candidates, and I consider our whole family – this is a candidacy for all of us, we shouldn’t even be running for office. But we know it’s all going to be worth it in the end."

Of course you wouldnt see the comparision b/c you hate the Palin’s and Love the Obama’s…the Obama’s can not do any wrong. If you re=read what I said in the beginning I was not bashing the Obama’s or putting them down YET that is how ti was taken, of course. Lordie I think that family is doing great with their girls and have always supported them as parents BUT once again compare them to another family or even the Palin’s and you get sucker punched. Chicago city…Alaska state…Ok um sorry I didnt reference it correctly for you…Jeez

Merrell…from what I read on this post the majority of the time is that Obama may have done wrong but there is always an excuse for why he has done it. I have no issue with that. I dont dislike Obama. I pray that he can lead our Country right and out of where it is now. I think it would be great not only for us but for our children and I have a daughter who is very young and we need this country to stay together for her and others children on here. I was unwed and pregnant…does that make my parents bad parents?

Hi C. Hardy — Happy Obama Year! Hope you’ve calmed down. You only hurt your credibility and impartiality by accusing those who come to the Obamas’ defense, or critcize the Palins, as “hating” the Palins, or Loving the Obamas. First off, I hope people do “love” the Obamas! You ought to try it yourself! And as for “hating” the Palins—that just sounds like a 10-year old in a school yard! Just because you disagree with someone or criticize them, doesn’t mean you “hate” them. I can’t believe we are having such a conversation!

Linda…If you can read back on some of the articles written on this site about Palin you will see the words hate and much worse words used to describe Sarah Palin…I couldn’t believe those words and feelings were being typed by the women on this site that other bloggers look up too. Very hateful and awful things to say about a woman. If you dont believe me look back at what DeBurca, Belinda and countless others have said about Palin. The word hate is minor compared to words they used on Palin. And again you dont know if I am an Obama supporter…I may have even voted for him just b/c I take the “other” side on this site doesnt mean I didnt vote for Obama…That is something you will never know. I have never used the word hate to describe any person on this site. I never once said I hated Palin or Obama…I may have said I hated what they may have stood for or what they may have said but I never said I hated that person. I dont hate anyone that is way too strong of a word for me. I may dislike someone for something they have done to me personally… Linda…I have been attacked on this site several times YET I dont hate those bloggers for the mean nasty things they have said about me…I just find it ill to read some of the comments on this site about Palin and her being a Mother or anything else. Its awful but then again women are the hardest on other women. For whatever our reasons are.

The Obama’s have been very protective of their children. Their children have been in front of the camera a minimum amount of time, mostly when they are doing something as a family and the press is following. That isn’t exploitation. Palin made her family the cornerstone of her whole persona, “the hockey mom”, bringing up her son in the military, her youngest as an example of how having a handicapped child was her “choice” and how it would make her a spokesperson for parents of handicapped children. The Obamas have never used their children as props.

So the interviews they did at their house showing Obama cooking for his girls…thats not exploration? why b/c its the Obama’s? DeB again I wasnt bashing the Obamas but one little negative comment and you freak out. Its really ok…They, being Politicians and Celebrities do it and its really ok b/c our society accepts it and goes on with our lives. I dont buy or watch the tv shows where the kids are part of it. But would I take the $300K for pictures of my beautiful daughter, you bet I would. I would assume you would do the same, just think what that $300K would pay for when it comes to babies, toddlers, children, and college age… I think its great that any parent, any PARENT, would want to protect their child and having their picture taken and getting paid for that picture…what is wrong with that? Oh I know, its b/c she is a Palin……

Obama has never used his daughters as props. I never saw that interview so I can’t comment on it. But every time I have seen them the daughters are in an appropriate situation considering the fact that their father was campaigning and is now President-Elect. The only interview I saw was part of the one with the whole family sitting together, months ago, and afterward Barack said he wished he hadn’t done it and wouldn’t do it again.

Two things are wrong with it… One, it is putting that child into a limelight it didn’t ask for and didn’t earn and that often ends up being a mistake. Two, if the parents are willing to cash in on the child, then they are giving up their rights to say “Leave us alone, we’re not celebrities, we’re private citizens.” No, you collect $300,000 for a photo, you’re officially a celebrity, so deal with it.

Palin didn’t protect her children in ANY way! When she began getting booed & getting threats (while she was fomenting hate in the crowds to want to kill Obama), she began to drag her little children on stage with her—so people would be nicer to her because her kids were there & she didn’t even consider she was putting them in danger—from weirdos who might shoot or whatever—she used them as a shield to protect herself!. I remember at the time thinking that was low & the sure sign of a poor mother—using her own kids & putting them in danger just to make her own life easier.

Look Deburca. You are a LIAR and a HYPROCRITE. I have news for you Obama is a lot more wealthier than Palin. It has been proven!! Palin’s email account was broken into which is ILLEGAL. Got it ILLEGAL. And guess WHO is charge for that? Do the research. How much money was raised for Obama’s campaign and where did the money come from? How much money was spent for Obama’s family during the campaign? What is going on in Chicago RIGHT NOW?! The TRUTH DeBurca. It maybe a first for you. I had to post to you because I have a consciousness. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! I am concern about the United States and I love the United States. There is no hate in my heart. Members of WOWOW have been trying to be patient with you for months now including myself. We may disagree which is fine by me. However when you make a misinformed post like this guess what I am going to call you on it! The media bias during this past election was so extreme it was unreal and unethical. People have the right to see both sides and make a conscious choice. The media took away that right. It’s the people that got the shaft Deburca. The children of the United States will suffer the most and what party approved most of the bail outs…..the Democratic Party. Have you heard about Barney Frank? Do you know about Frannie? I use to think the Reps were always the bad guys well guess what this year was an eye opener. Take notes Deburca. I don’t drink the kool-aid and I don’t believe in your propaganda. I have seen what happens to countries due to propagandas. Enough with giving you a break.

Not only is everything in your post incorrect and the name calling offensive, I thought I told you I do not want to have any debates with you.

DeBurca- This maybe very direct however there is no other way to say this. You broke your promise of not responding or commenting to any of MY posts that I made first. Not once but TWICE in the past. By doing so you are just proving yet again that you are being a hyprocrite. I am just calling you out. You have been the one harrassing and name calling to WOWOW members in the past. So STOP with the lies, STOP accusing people of attacking you when you have been the attacker and STOP with the harassment to others for having a different opinion. Give WOWOW members a break with the peck, peck, pecking and the bullying DeBurca. If you were working in any professional office you would be on probation due to lack of respect to others and common courtesy. I don’t drink the kool-aid Deburca. I am an independent thinker. RE-READ all your posts that you’ve written since you started becoming a member of WOWOW, read them out loud to a few acquaintances NOT friends… maybe stop a few strangers at a coffee shop and ask them how they would respond to your posts. If you can’t handle the fact that people have different opinions and will challenge you on occasion then maybe you shouldn’t dish it out. Got it. I am sure that in 2009 more and more people will stand up to you. It’s up to you on how you are going to handle it. If you want to continue being dishonest that’s your deal. However I have a consciousness. Now back to the promise of NOT responding or commenting to my posts (that’s not even directed to you)… can you make sure to keep it next time. Or are you going to forget and claim that it is okay for you to respond what I post but I can’t respond to what you post. Have a Happy New Year.

You directly posted to ME… and I responded. I did not “promise” to allow you to post insults to me and that I wouldn’t give you a direct response. I’m not only not reading this post, I request that you stop posting to me.

Happy Obama Year, DB! I was appalled to see this harassment of you, and urge you to just ignore it—no one here that matters will listen to any such garbage about you! Your comments are always well-researched and fact-based, and sometimes that is too much for others to take.

Linda- Many others will disagree and have called her on it. Re-read all the post since she started and then read all the replies to her posts from everyone who are members of WOWOW. Facts are facts and remember there are two sides to EVERY story. There are going to be many in the coming year that will have a different opinion than her. It she conducts herself the same way that she has done with me and others, then they will call her on it as well. Her intimidation tactics, in accurate facts and bullying conduct should not be tolerated. Everyone here are equals. There is no seniority. I got tired of her harrassment to me and others and I called her on it. Peace be with you and Namaste.
