Bristol Palin: Abstinence-Only Isn't 'Realistic' (Video)

Sarah and Bristol Palin burned up the press this weekend.
First came a report on a new biography about Sarah, who last year ran for the vice presidency. The book, entitled Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin, delves into Palin’s political rise and, of course, her personal life, like how she knew of son Trig’s Down syndrome while she was pregnant, but kept it under wraps because she herself was unsure of how to handle a special needs pregnancy.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old Bristol Palin, who had her own baby last December, gave her first interview to FOX News’s Greta Van Susteren this weekend. Much of the conversation, not surprisingly, revolved around the challenges of being a new mom.
"It’s not just the baby that’s hard. I’m not living for myself anymore," Palin says. But "I like being a mom. I love it … It is very challenging but so rewarding." She also said telling her parents about her pregnancy was "harder than labor."
"I couldn’t even say it, I was sick to my stomach," Palin says.
Both Bristol and Sarah Palin expressed skepticism about abstinence-only programs, which the Alaska governor supported when running for governor in 2006. "It sounds naive. Life happens," Sarah Palin said during a later interview with Van Susteren. "Truly, it can happen to anybody … Less than ideal circumstances but we make the most out of it."
"Everybody should be abstinent but it’s not realistic at all," added Bristol. "You should just wait ten years. It will be so much easier."

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin also had her own secret pregnancy for a while. A new biography of Palin — not authorized by the governor herself — says that her pregnancy with son Trig was almost discovered when one of her daughters found the prenatal ultrasound scan. Palin also knew Trig had Down syndrome but didn’t tell her other four kids until he was born on April 18.
"Not discussing the pregnancy with her daughters, she felt, would shorten the process and spare them from unwanted attention," according to Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin, by People Assistant Editor Lorenzo Benet, out today.

I didn’t say that she hasn’t been trashed. However all of the candidates were and two wrongs do not make a right. If one person jumps off a bridge are young to as well Alex? Furthermore, are you a man that has a brain or do you let others think for you? You have free will and can think on your own, why would you let others make your decision?
And you are INCORRECT. It is no time to "trash" President Obama as a country we have to rally behind our President no matter whom he/she may be and support them….even if you did not vote for them.I have said it before and will say it again, when Bush was President I definitely DID NOT vote for him. But when 9/11 occurred I did due to the fact that none of us know what it is like to be President. I’m sure they know of issues that are occurring or could occurs that we have not a clue about. However in the last 8 years former President Bush proved that he did not deserve my support as I believed when I did not vote for him..because he truly did not know what he was doing.
For you to waste your time "trashing" the President is quite frankly low and simple of your personality and if you like spreading hate then that speak volumes about who you are and what morals/ethics you have or should I say the LACK THERE OF.
two wrongs do not make a right.

Well D C, it’s a little late to ask anyone to stop bashing Obama, none of those that were asked to be kind and stop bashing Sarah, listened. And just as you all didn’t and still have nothing to respectful to say about our last president Bush, why should we not point out Obama’s mistakes…I say we should.
Point out mistakes, Elaine? You haven’t been paying attention! The name of this game is LET"S BASH THE PRESIDENT! You are the captain of the team.
Steve
I find your post riduculous. Did you question former President Bush? Deal with it, you have a BLACK President. Heh, HeH!
Moreover what’s your point are your saying that our President is "Hitler"? You are joking for sure RIGHT!
Sometimes its not about latching on to "freedom of speech" but something more sinister, like ……… bad stuff, or hate.
Andromeda, I questioned President Bush about a lot of things. Even when he was Governor of my state. However, I was never attacked by Republicans even for questioning him. What I questioned him on were those core conservative beliefs that I think he strayed from. And, other conservatives understood why I questioned him. I have said in previous posts and I will continue to say, I have no problem with the fact that Nobama is black. I have only said that he was only elected because he is black. He has nothing about him that makes him worthy of being POTUS. He’s a token, rubberstamp tool for the Democratic Party. Now, if Michael Steele were running for POTUS, I would probably support him. Considering his actions of the past few weeks, the only reason Nobama wanted to be POTUS was for the use of AirForce One without question.
Andromeda, I’m guessing that you must have a problem reading. Either that, or understanding the English language. Let’s review. I said "That’s like telling the Jews of Germany to rally behind Hitler. Or in this case, the Jews to rally behind Stalin." Did I say that Nobama was like Hitler or Stalin? No, I did not. I am saying that it is a fascist country that expects people who disagree to fall in line. Pastor Martin Niemoller in Germany said - "In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist; And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist; And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew; And then … they came for me … And by that time there was no one left to speak up."
Do I think that the Liberals are capable of this? Within a decade or two, yes. I think that Kruschev’s statement that Communism would take over the US within 2 generations, but it would come from within is very possible. And I think it is the liberal Democratic Party that will bring it about.
Steve, I hope right wing extremists like you never take over the country. Your views are filled with hate and ignorance. I don;t know why you are so angry? I think the right wingers are curbing freedom of speech and religion and just about everything else.
Steve,
FANTASTIC post!!!
