Bristol Palin's Future Mom-in-Law Busted on Drug Charges

By The Staff at wowOwow.com

Now that’s a headline Sarah Palin and her family don’t want to read. But, unfortunately for the Alaska governor, they must.

Alaskan police yesterday arrested Sherry Johnston, mother of Bristol’s fiancé Levi, for six drug-related felony counts, including a "second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance," which can mean manufacturing or distributing drugs. Coppers took Johnston away yesterday around noon, but later released her on a $5,000 bond. Investigators said they had been looking at Sherry Johnston "for a while," but would not release more information lest they complicate an ongoing investigation. They did not say what type of controlled substance Sherry was allegedly working with.

Sherry Johnston’s son, Levi, shot to fame this summer when Gov. Palin, who was then running for vice president, and her husband announced that their daughter, 18-year-old Bristol, was pregnant with Johnston’s child. Bristol’s set to give birth tomorrow.

Gov. Palin hasn’t released a statement and doesn’t intend to, according to her office, which released this curt message: "This is not a state government matter. Therefore the governor’s communications staff will not be providing comment or scheduling interview opportunities." Sherry Johnston has also kept her lips sealed, although we have a sneaking suspicion silence will do nothing to derail this sensational story.

You must admit they (Levi and Bristol) are a movie-star handsome couple. However, Sarah Palin has it correct: “This is not a state government matter. Therefore the governor’s communications staff will not be providing comment or scheduling interview opportunities.” Enough with this Palin hounding, there is more than enough going on in Chicago and Springfield, Illinois to keep us all talking and speculating, let’s give Alaska a rest.

Marjorie, I say, let’s go ahead and talk and speculate to our heart’s content, but also drop our political filters to allow Illinois and Alaska equal time. In both cases, we’re reflecting on the personal ethics and morality surrounding public people with ties to our government. Truth is, Governor Palin wants lots and lots of attention. But she can’t court the good without expecting some bad. I don’t think she’s being hounded, she’s getting the full measure of celebrity. That’s the painful price a person pays for being high-profile. And many believe that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, anyway. Time will tell. Personally, I’m weary of hearing about her, but that’s just me.

Let’s give Alaska a rest? Oh let’s not. What difference is there between your wanting not to “hound” of the Palins and your obvious willingness to go after of the Obamas.

Right on my friend, why Mrs Palin has any support is beyond me…this “maverick” has done nothing accept appoint a commission to recommend a raise for herself, while the oil revenue to her state will be greatly reduced due to the current economic climate! So she’s fighting corruption by carving a new path of her own…

PLEASE!!! Could we STOP talking about Sarah Palin and her sad family. Only a little investigation will reveal that there is much more to this story than we’ve known and it isn’t pretty. It will fade into the background if we let it. It is terribly unimportant in the face of the really life-changing drama we have here and abroad. This woman and her family are almost entirely created by the media so let’s just move on. They’re Alaskans, for pete’s sake!! This is the way life is lived in Alaska to a very great extent. It bears no relation to the rest of the states and we do well to concentrate on the majority and real issues and not some aberrant state in which civility and accepted norms of behavior have yet to become entrenched - for good or for bad. This story really has no place on this forum or any news forum (perhaps YouTube or TMZ) and is why I have found myself increasingly bored with the forum (and more inclined to engage with real issues that are being addressed by women such as at http://thewip.net/, women’s international perspectives) that is preoccupied with gossip, innuendo, and mundane issues that are terribly small and subjective in a world that is in unprecedented crisis.

Unfortunately, Palin ran for PUBLIC office, as the VP choice of John McCain, a PRESIDENTIAL candidate for AMERICA! As such, they gave up a lot of the rights to ‘excuses’ and ‘forgiveness’ of ‘we the people’ who look to our leaders as ROLE MODELS. IF we were to bury our heads in the sand, and not take notice that this pair —McCain and Palin—- ‘seemingly condoned’ those ideals that America aspires to CONDEMN—-it would be the same as saying the following: 1. it’s OK for teenagers to have sex, make babies, because the State will pay the teenager fo every person she creates. 2. The GOP runs on a platform that ‘marriage’ is for the creation of children and families—-but not everyone has to be married—or allowed to be. 3. The ‘war on drugs’ is a myth—-because if you live in a certain State, or have a certain Parent—you can do as many drugs as you want, and encourage as many others to do drugs, as you want… This story HAS a place-it is a reminder that we, as a country, still have some work to do, to PROTECT—-and TEACH, children that doing drugs and getting pregnant and having babies is not the american Dream…not EVERY child in that predicament has a parent that will pay the bills—-could be why Palin got herself a payraise!?

How many of you are willing to guarantee the behavior of in-laws and potential in-laws? Now if Palin had used her authority to quash an investigation that would be a story.

In a “small town” (Sarah’s quote) like Wasilla? Don’t tell me it wasn’t common knowledge.
