Britney Spears's Dad Is Furious Over Daughter's New Reality Series

Britney Spears is reportedly set to star in a new reality TV show, despite her family’s wishes for her to keep her private life out of the limelight.

If Britney appears in the proposed "fly-on-the-wall" MTV documentary, she will be defying the wishes of her mother Lynne, dad Jamie, ex-husband Kevin Federline and her 17-year-old sis Jamie Lynn (who recently gave birth to her first child).

Reports swirling around the Internet reveal that the show will focus on Britney’s attempt to get her life and career back on track.

The troubled 26-year-old has desperately been trying to regain her fame and image — with a new diet, workout routine and new album.

Britney’s mother is said to be talking her daughter out of the show because she fears the singer will use it as a platform to speak out before Lynne’s tell-all book is published, News 24 reports.

"This could be the biggest car-crash television moment of all time," said a worried friend of Britney.

Also, Britney’s dad is "furious," News 24 reports: "He thinks it’s a big mistake and doesn’t want anything to do with it. But Britney thinks it will help her custody battle for her sons."

Perhaps Britney’s also a bit strapped for cash lately? CBS News reports Britney recently resolved custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline cost her a fortune.

Court documents show legal bills submitted on behalf of two law firms who represented Spears total more than $466,000. That’s on top of the $250,000 the pop singer has agreed to pay Federline’s attorneys. MTV news reports that Britney also pays K-Fed $20,000 a month under an agreement finalized in July.

I could be wrong, but doesn’t her father have conservatorship of her until at least the end of the year? I heard she can’t even buy a car without his permission - how could she sign a contract for a reality show without his ok?

Hi Lorraine, Conservatorship over management of money does not necessarily include contract negotiations for future earnings. Conservatorships are usually split into two kinds - person and estate. As I understand it, her father has temporary conservatorship over her estate. Since she’s not been adjudicated incompetent, she’s still free to enter into a contract, as far as I know.

Britt’s surrounded by so many scavengers. The courts need to help her father fend them off.

I’m not a fan of hers but one must admit that she obviously has problems with the reality of life. Too much of everything too soon, it is hard to work that in with a regular life style unless you are a rock and I do not mean a rock star.

Britney is a young woman, who needs our compassion and understanding. She has experienced a life style that few of us can even comprehend, by choice maybe, but did she really choose? She is a young women trying to find her way without any type of foundation under her and just when she believes she has found some support, it turns into quicksand. How confusing and especially if you do not have a solid foundation. Britney needs to be loved from a place of purity and supported to connect to herself. I for one, hope that somehow she will find the support she needs to stop punishing herself, and begin to connect to the real Britney. What I want for Britney is for her to love herself, for who she is, and all she has to offer to herself, her children and to the world.

That’s exactly what her dad has been trying to do. This child is self destructive, and as soon as her dad is no longer in charge, she’ll go up in smoke yet again.

Every time a narcissistic celebrity exploits their own absurd life in a “reality” show, God slaughters yet another poor defenseless litter of sweet fluffy kittens.

Watch that ‘God, the kitty-killer’ talk, Kryssi. It makes me a little nervous.

Brittney is over 21. Even though her father and mother may disagree with her choices, and even if the choices are bad ones, Brittney must suffer the consequences (and not other caring people). Yes, her life has been destructive, but apparently she hasn’t learned her lesson. I agree with Vivvy—as soon as her father leaves Brittney will self-destruct like any other addict. Unfortunately, we see this frequently happen in the Hollywood scene. Having a high profile, wealthy life-style, with everything available, can cause problems. Add to the situation bi-polar disorder, drug addiction and a divorce (or is it 2 divorces), and problems will follow. I hope she can survive the next few years or enough time to overcome her disadvantages, and learn to see a content life.

Maybe I am wrong in saying this, but where were her parents before? Shouldn’t have there been someone there for her more before? As the daughter of a psychiatrist, I know that bi-polar disorder does not just pop out of nowhere. All the self-destruction she does is not only due to this disease but it is done because she is simple frustrated and alone. She needs counseling, not necessarily a strong hand to tell her no, but if she does not want to change herself, for her own good, she will not. It does not matter what her mom and dad and family want or don’t want her to do.

You know what? Who really cares! Britney Spears is an idiot and whoever wants to cash in on her ridiculous life, let them… They are going to do it anyway! I am just fed up with her, I am at the end of my tether… We give too much importance to untalented singers and actors. She can’t even sing that good… She just got a break because she was a mousketeer, turned poptart ( emphasis on the tart). Sex sells, drama sells, and America is lapping it all up.

Raquel, I couldn’t agree with you more! Personally, I have no sympathy for Brittany Spears. I feel some sympathy for the addicts out there that are penniless and homeless, who have never had someone love them, or support them or offer to help them. A spoiled little rich girl, with millions in her bank account, who can afford the best care money can buy, is not someone I am willing to waste sympathy on. At some point, Brittany needs to be accountable for herself. She is now 26 years old, she is not a little girl, and people shouldn’t have to hold her hand throughout her life to make sure she is behaving as she should. She has failed herself and her children and she needs to own that.
