Britney Spears — at the age of 26 and a mother of two sons — still needs her daddy.

A judge ruled Tuesday that Britney Spears’s father will maintain permanent control of the pop star’s personal and financial affairs. Jamie Spears was granted conservatorship over his daughter’s affairs in February – which was right after Spears was seen having some very public meltdowns. The conservatorship was set to expire at the end of this year, but Mr. Spears requested to make it an indefinite arrangement. Britney Spears reportedly did not object to the judge’s ruling, but she could petition to have the conservatorship removed later on.

Yesterday’s court hearing comes shortly after a medical team examined the star, who in the past few months seems to have cleaned up her act. She is releasing an album December 27 and wowed the crowd at the recent MTV Video Music Awards. Under the permanent conservatorship, Spears will undergo regular medical checkups. The LA judge also ruled that she can’t be forced to testify or give a deposition in a lawsuit filed by her former manager over unpaid royalties. Some sources say that being under dad’s control is a good move for Spears to regain custody of her young boys. The family commissioner may feel more comfortable allowing the kids to spend time with Spears knowing that a grown up is watching out for the mom’s health and well-being.

If that’s what she needs, then it’s great. As the parent of a child with a mental illness, for whom I’m going to have to petition to continue guardianship of when he turns 18, I can see how this is a good move. Let’s face it - Britney seems happier and healthier since her father has had this in place.

i pray for britney. as one who also has been “diagnosed” with bi-polar illness, i testify right here that the treatment of the public often is as bad as what an episode of depression or mania can be. britney is doing the right thing, and i commend her dad as he seems like a fine gentleman to really care about his daughter. britney’s mother i am afraid, i wonder if i should think otherwise than just the opposite. britney more power to you and you damn publicists , sp? paparazzi’s, lay off a little ok? good luck britney and family especially the kids. love and peace, and, peace and love, (kirk) kirk gregory czuhai http://kirkgregoryczuhai.here.ws
