Candice Bergen Knows the Way to a Man's Heart

I still put out carrots and milk for Santa and his reindeer. Also cookies. My daughter and I do this together. I hope to God we always will.

And wouldn’t you just have been the perfect little St. Lucia! I have never in my life been more frightened than when Grandma actually put the crown on my head and lit the candles. And Grandpa singing a cappella so beautifully and simply (because, I suspect he was the only one still remembering the Swedish): Se, på vår tröskel står vitklädd med ljus i hår Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia. Mörkret ska flyta snart urjordens dalar så hon ett underbart ord till oss talar. Dagen ska åter ny stiga ur rosig sky. Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia. May the light return to us all very soon.

Hey Mugsy - do you by any chance have a Swedish keyboard?! Writing our last three letters å ä ö… is no easy task on the English keyboard! St. Lucia, and her followers, have scared a lot of people over the years.. I don’t know if it’s still being done, but “they’ve” done the “Lucia-train” (for lack of a better English word, it’s called that in Swedish) some years to/for the Nobel Prize winners - and scared some out of their senses! You have to know - she often comes in the wee hours of the morning…. Not being fully awake and seing a white-dressed figure with burning lights on her head…. H’m, I’d be scared too had I been from another country.

ä å, and ö can be found on the insert + symbols + normal text panel in Microsoft Word. I gave up and found the text on the web because I got tired of this myself. If I were fluent, I would probably switch the Yahoo to Swedish. The candles make you, um, VERY level-headed! (Alas, for only a brief period.) Considering what happened to Santa Lucia, it’s probably her turn to scare people, huh? Good Yule, Flicka!

Oh, I meant to say you could set up an auto-correct so you type something and get one of the letters. Play with that. You have to copy and drop them into the auto-correct, but then you’re set.

Och en God Jul till dig med, Mugsy! (“Jul” is said is if spelt with an “y”) Kanske lite tidigt att säga Gott Nytt År - 6 dagar kvar - men jag gör det ändå!! ;-) Gör ingenting som inte jag skulle göra!!! Better translate to the rest of you all: Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do (for New Year’s!) Uhm, I don’t need to do anything special other than press the letters å ä and ö directly when I need them, as on my keyboard the letter å is to the right of the p, the ö to the right of the L with the ä to the right of the ö. Convieniant!! ;-)

It was the one bright light on evening TV, always guaranteed to be funny, smart and thought provoking. I will miss it , and miss you. Thank you for a great ride !

I second that! Only half a 5th season…. Who’s responsible for that?? Mr Kelly or the network? Disappointing to say the least. Have a Merry Christmas!
