Candice Bergen Counts Her Lucky Stars

Candice Bergen

Well, obviously President-elect Obama. What a fantastic miracle for us all. I am so grateful to be alive during this period. I am also grateful I hadn’t invested with Bernie Madoff and that my husband always looks out for me in the market.

You are one of the lucky ones. Can I also say, that I will miss seeing you every week on Boston Legal. It was one of my favorite shows. Anything in the works for what’s next?

I agree on the loss of Boston Legal. I watch very little tv, but I loved the show. I remember reading years ago, about the amount of reality tv the brits had, and laughed figuring our networks would never go down that road, but with the loss of Boston Legal, there will probably be another reality show to tune out. I really hope you come back to the small screen soon. Blessings, Linda

I too am not much of a tv viewer, but I LOVE Boston Legal. I’m hoping for years of re-runs so I don’t have to go cold turkey without that delicious cast of characters. I hope we see Candace in something else soon.

Candice, I am sure you and your husband are so relieved you did not invest with that man, but I am sure you must know many people that did. Boston Legal was “a hoot” to use a well-known phrase on the show. I was sorry that you were not in each episode this last season, and that this last season was only half a season. I didn’t think to write it before, but I hope 2008 did not bring about the demise of drama and comedy in favor of reality shows. I noticed NBC is going to have Jay Leno in the daily 10 pm slot. That has to be a lot cheaper than wonderful shows like the Law and Order franchise. I hope 2009 doesn’t ruin quality TV.

Television coverage of Indy-Mac being shut down and the confusion of the people who were gathered outside its doors. Also, the demise of well written television shows. Is this backlash against the writers’ strike? Good Luck to David Kelley. He seems to be the last of the good television writers. Is he hanging up his “typewriter” or what?

They definitely ought to pronounce Bernie’s last name as MAD-off, if not MAD-man. It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Candice Bergen, would you please consider making more than a few appearances on ‘The Mentalist’ as Simon Baker’s mother…….I am your age, and I could play his mother except for the blond, talented and beautiful aspects which separate you and me. Simon Baker uses his powers of observation to help solve crimes after an earlier career of playing a psychic con artist. In the face of overwhelming tragedy, he is a soulful man with charm, twinkling blue eyes and dashing good looks, a man of, shall I say it, yes…peace and grace. In my mind he is this man because he grew up with you. You’ll be eccentric, a free spirit whose dazzling energy for life instilled in her son this tremendous inner strength and outward charisma. I can almost write the show. This is Emmy Award material. People love you, Candice Bergen, please do not go away. Peace and grace
