The previous 2 comments seemed to come with the condition that one’s efforts are expected to be reciprocated. I have been married for 34 years to a man I adore. And in our early years, I did not know how to reciprocate. He loved me and he followed a version of Candice’s list year after year until he, in effect, taught me how to love. For many years, I have followed that list, and we now make a good, comparatively healthy couple. Now when I feel short -changed, I look inside & take stock. Usually, it’s not about him.
