Oh, what’s the point? I never keep them. I’m sorry but it’s true.

I love living in the bay area because we get two New Year’s Days. First we have the English version, and make our resolutions, and then proceed to break them all. Then we clean our houses, pay our debts, and get ready for the real thing — Chinese New Year’s, usually middle to end of February. Works great.

I think the vast majority of people brake their New Year’s resolutions…I have given up feeling guilty about it…What can you do….

Yes I also begin the year well intentioned but seem to break the resolutions so I am not going to set any for the coming year.

Ladies, for those of you who think making a resolution is useless lets look at why. The defination of resolution is 1: the act or process of resolving: as a: the act of analyzing a complex notion into simpler ones b: the act of answering : solving . I like solving the best, and the reason is anytime I have a problem, my husband has an answer to solve it. Well, I may not really want him to pick a solution, I may not want a solution at all. Maybe just maybe, we are not really committed to our resolutions and therefore we are right, don’t bother. Well, if its to begin an exercise program, or slow down on the shopping, get myself organized, what ever it is we know should be our resolution but we really do not want to change, then by all mean don’t. Now on the other hand if you say, Michele I really do, but I cannot find the time, its a hassel trying to cook two different meals etc., thats another story. First of all get informed, read up on what others are doing, then choose what is best for you . Then you must do two things: First you must consider your resolution “a Job”, yes a job, its something we must do until…….? Infinity and beyond. Remember it is a job we choose, never lose site of that. Now the second thing to remember is to set up s negative consequence for not doing it. You might restrict yourself from a weekly stroll shopping trip, or your drive through starbucks coffee, something that is meaninful to you and will nudge you in your mind to get you back on track. Try it and let me know. Otherwise Happy New Year
