Cindy McCain: 'The View' Ladies 'Picked Our Bones Clean'

Cindy McCain took a swipe at “The View” over the weekend, saying the American people’s views and beliefs are not properly represented on those shows or in the media.

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like ‘The View’ — I don’t know if any of you saw ‘The View’ yesterday, they picked our bones clean — in spite of what you see, that’s not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," McCain said during a Michigan fundraiser Saturday night, a recording of which was obtained by ABC News. “They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that’s why we’re pulling ahead."

Republican White House hopeful Sen. John McCain of Arizona had a tough exchange with the hosts of “The View” during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. One of the show’s co-hosts, Joy Behar, called claims in some of McCain’s campaign ads “lies,” and was grilled about how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own.

Well, they were doing what the Fourth Estate is supposed to be doing. These people aren’t supposed to be getting a free ride, and if Mrs. McCain’s husband’s campaign is lying so much that even Karl Rove mentions it, then thank God for The Women on View. Remember the time Hillary and Bill Clinton went on 60 minutes? And, she said something about staying at home and baking cookies? My goodness, now the press had a field day off that for the whole time of their presidency. So, Mrs. McCain, quit playing the victim, you all can’t have it both ways.

Cindy McCain: “They (voters) are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that’s why we’re pulling ahead.” Right on, Cindy !! Indeed, John is steadily pulling ahead. People know there is no time for on-the-job training.

People know there is no time for on-the-job training.” I’m sorry, did I miss something? When Was John McCain the President of the United States? The only men that know what it is like to serve as President of the United States are former Presidents. Anyone who takes office WILL go through on-the-job-training, because indeed, holding the highest office in the U.S. is unlike any other job.

Belinda: Anyone who takes office WILL go through on-the-job-training,… But some bring more inside-Washington experience than others. With everything going on at the moment, I prefer not to hand over the reins to a novice whose experience in Washington has been about 150 active days in the Senate. But you do, and that’s okay. Peace.

Exactly Majorie, It took experienced veterans like John McCain to get us into this, and only a veteran Washington insider like Senator McCain can get us further into this. Sound logic if ever there was any.

Norman Ornstein (WashPost Op-Ed) “The change that Washington needs will require the deep deployment of people who know how to move the levers of power from the inside. The presidential bully pulpit is a powerful weapon in a president’s arsenal. But it’s no substitute for knowing how to get things in Washington.” I believe what he says to be true. On-the-ground experience is important, very important.

Marjorie I respect your opinion on this matter, but I strongly disagree. Sen. Obama brings to the white house a fresh perspective and the ability to bring both sides of the aisle together for the change that is needed. That combined with the fact he will have Biden at his side who has more experience in Washington than McCain….we would truly be blessed. Now in comparison you have McCain who has been for the most part ineffective and a man who admits he agrees with Bush’s 90% of the time, coupled with the fact he has chosen a woman to be at his side who (has admitted) she knows little about foreign affairs and “doesn’t like to be bothered with Iraq issues”…..it is obvious who would be the better option for our country.

Marjorie — So by your logic, being a mere governor of a state would not provide the insider experience necessary to be President — and would disqualify GWB (Worst President Ever), Clinton (a great President), Reagan and Carter (mixed reviews); and … Tonya H. Palin, President in waiting and reminds everyone that she is a Washington Outsider!!!!

Linda, I’m not sure what you’re saying. Senator John McCain is very familiar with what goes on in Washington, he’s been there for quite some time. Governor Sarah Palin is not running for president. I am simply agreeing with Norman Ornstein’s assessment that there is …no substitute for knowing how to get things (done) in Washington. I think Obama’s plan is to change everything, turn everything upside down and inside out. This is not the right time for experimentation. Savy and experience will save the day, trial and error will not.

I forgot about Senator McCain’s experience with the Keating 5. PLUS, his economic advisor, Phil Gramm, laid the groundwork for the deregulation that spawned today’s crisis. Yep, you can’t find EXPERIENCE like that just anywhere.

Just remember, Belinda, Phil Gramm was the main economic policy advisor to John McCain, the one who called us a “nation” of whiners. Now why would you want to vote for one of the main supporters of failed economic policy? And, now I hear that if McCain is elected, Phil Gramm will probably be on the short list of Sec’y of Treasury. One of the most important tasks a person can do before the election is to check on the advisory committees of the candidates, and when I see the advisors like Robert Rubin, Lawrence Summers, Warren Buffett and others of that stature in the Obama camp, that is telling me that he’s the one to elect. I wish I could find the article I read briefly last week. It is telling how these campaign advisors convince the public to vote for the very people that hurt them the most. Because this is what will happen here if McCain is elected.

I could not agree more..what you have said here is very important…when they talk about experience..well, not all experience is good (why is no one talking about McCain and the Keating 5 scandal..certainly relevant in view of the banking crisis) Phil Gramm could be called the architect of this current mortgage/wall st crisis with his deregulation. Frankly it scares me that McCain/Palin could win,,to me it seems many people are not smart enough to see it I can always count on you for an intelligent perspective!

Might want to check today’s polls, Marjorie. He’s falling behind again. The bounce is over.

I felt that the moderators of The View represented my point of view very well in the questions they asked. In fact, I would have pressed John McCain even further. The McCains should be feeling pressured since they are publishing so many falsehoods. It is easy to defend the truth, perhaps not so easy when it is lies and distortions. Don’t tell me who you represent, Mrs. McCain.

OMG! If any of you actually SAW the McCain’s on the VIEW you would see that the VIEW ladies actually were very RUDE! I didn’t even see Hasselbeck coming to McCain’s aid. (which I was shocked that she didn’t). You would have thought Barbara would have had much more ‘class’ than she showed. She was pathetic. Check it out: Barbara Walters asks how many houses they own. Cindy says, “You know, that’s just not part of this campaign.” Then she talked about how lucky she was to have such hard-working parents who could provide for her. Priceless…Cindy McCain basically said “none of your business” in much nicer way. Now down to the one that really pissed me off..guess who? Whoopi Asks McCain: ‘Do I Have To Be Worried About Becoming a Slave Again?’ GOLDBERG: Should I be worried about being a slave, about being returned to slavery because certain things happened in the Constitution that you had to change. Now what a STUPID moronic comment is this? After Whoopi said that she then said something to the effect of “well I was gonna start running” So to Whoopi I say Run Baby Run for making such a stupid remark.
