Cindy McCain's Press Secretary For Hire
Laurye Blackford, the press secretary to the much-“maligned” Cindy McCain by “the mainstream media,” says that in the moments and days following John McCain’s defeat to President-elect Obama, the family has “felt resigned” to what America decided.
She said that neither McCain nor his wife “are criers,” nor are they “people who feel sorry for themselves.” If anything, Blackford says, “They’re relieved that there’s an outcome after two long years.” Blackford said to wOw that the family was now enjoying themselves in Sedona at the cabin with a small group of friends. “They’re having a great time.” McCain will head back to D.C. after some time off and as Blackford says, “He’ll do what he has always done, serve his country.” She relayed that in the moments after the defeat McCain got emotional, feeling he had let his staffers down. “He was more concerned about us than him. But that’s who he is. He’s a man who thinks about other people.”
In return, Blackford admits “a lot of people have lost their jobs but we feel sorry that he lost the presidency over our employment.” As for Laurye Blackford, she’s heading back to Los Angeles where she’ll be pounding the pavement with a new addition to her resume. “Tell anyone with a job available to give me a call. I’m free.”
