Condi Rice Admits to Crush on Denzel Washington
It’s a well-known fact Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s dream job is to be commissioner of the National Football League (NFL).
But a lesser-known fact, just revealed to Yahoo! News and Politico’s Mike Allen in an interview, is that President Bush’s former national security adviser also has a crush on Hollywood heartthrob Denzel Washington. Join the club.
Thandie Newton ("Crash," "The Truth About Charlie," "The Pursuit of Happyness") is playing the role of Rice in the upcoming movie, "W," directed by Oliver Stone. The movie is supposed to be a comedy/drama that chronicles the life and presidency of George W. Bush.
"I’m sure she’ll do a very fine job," the stylish Rice told Allen, after admitting she didn’t know of her role in the movie. Rice said she couldn’t name offhand a leading man she would like to play opposite in the film.
But when asked who her Hollywood crush was, Rice said: "My Hollywood crush? … I’ve got lots of them. Doesn’t everybody love Denzel Washington?"
During the interview, America’s top diplomat also talked about football star Brett Favre’s fate in the NFL, challenges in the Middle East and Asia, the Iraq war and Iran’s nuclear program. A former academic and Soviet specialist who has spent eight years in the Bush administration as one of the president’s closest advisers and personal friends, Rice is like another member of the Bush family. She also discusses her record, future plans and gives her take on a "President Obama" as commander in chief.
And, more importantly, would she ever consider being Obama’s vice president? (Her name, by the way, according to the general media consensus, is not on Obama’s short list at all.)
"I don’t need another job in government with anybody," Rice responded.
