Cougar Catch of the Week: Cher, 62, and 38-Year-Old Hikin’ Bikin’ Adventurin’ Tim Medvetz

Divine Cher is known for dating men much younger than herself — Val Kilmer, Tom Cruise and Rob Camilletti, the then-22-year-old bagel baker.
But now Cher, 62, is in a serious relationship with her 38-year-old biker boyfriend Tim Medvetz. Although not as famous or as rich as the songbird, Medvetz did climb Mount Everest for the Discovery Channel series "Everest: Beyond the Limit" — despite having metal plates and pins in his
spine, ankle and skull after a bike crash in 2001.
The August 4 print edition of the National Enquirer is reporting that they plan to wed by the end of the year. Our own Liz Smith, however, doesn’t foresee wedding bells, writing in her nationally syndicated column on July 23 that Cher is "mad for him. She is extremely happy. This does not translate inevitably to marriage. I’d be surprised if she made such a commitment at this point."
The tabloid reported that Cher will be taking the jump and that the two-time divorcee is having her boyfriend, who has been called a "former Hell’s Angel” and said to have a secret girlfriend, sign a $600-million prenuptial agreement.

Who are we to judge what others do? True happiness only comes in a series of moments - moments in time - and I have come to believe that we have to grab at that those moments. . . and in more fallow times, we can look back and smile at those special times. As we know, especially these days, that few love affairs result in marriage, especially long term marriage.
Frankly, for a woman and the younger man, there is often the feeling of youth
and renewed vitality and energy. There is less reliance on doctors and pills, for they are getting something that can’t be bottled. They are celebrities, so we predict and analyze them to death. Don’t we have better things to do?
If we don’t, we should. Life should be fun and fun takes many forms.
And speaking of another columns adages: we don’t regret what we do that’s wonderful in life; we regret what we don’t. So let these people live their own lives. I say RIGHT ON!”
joan - how modern & healthy. Great perspective, mindful of boundaries and where there is value. Easier to see ‘cause I’m older. Enjoyed your post!
Cher, you go girl! If this makes her happy and he is good to her then why not? Life is too short to worry about a piddling 24 year age difference.
Cher is surrounded by “famous, rich” people all the time. I could see how she would be attracted to someone from a completely different walk of life. But I don’t understand WHY she would marry him, or anyone for that matter.
This is the third recent reference to the National Enquirer.
I find the use of this source disappointing, particularly since one of the contributors is Liz Smith.
Ditto, Kitty.
I thought a cougar has to be “significantly older than her “prey”. Like me. I am 52 and my partner is 34. Anniston does not qualify because she is not close to a cougar-ly age and her boy toy is only nine years her junior. Who is making the rules here?
Old women are often fools for love.
And old men are bigger ones.
Fools are the only ones who would stay around him long enough to get to know him, if the were anything to get to know.
You’ve got that right Diana! Usually it’s the old men convinced that blonde bimbo loves him because he is still so sexy, not because he has loads of money.
We have all been fools for love at one point or another. So what? It’s part of living. And, if you don’t take a chance, you have no chance at all of having those moments of spendor.
There are very few people that would characterize Cher, Tina Turner and women like them, as ‘old.’
Cher’s video ‘Believe” 3.2 million views.

Dr. Mark Klein,
Why so formal, why the “Dr.” in here? And what are you a doctor of?
Mark is a psychiatrist, DeB, retired in California. You can go to google if you want to know more.
He doesn’t exactly appreciate the members of our fair sex.
