Cynthia McFadden's Dad: Anyone Can Have a Job They Don't Like ...

Cynthia McFadden
I was the first in my family to be able to go to college. On the day I graduated from law school, my very proud father said, "Just remember one thing little girl: Anyone can have a job they don’t like. It’s your responsibility to go out and find work that means something to you."

I love that! That should be written down somewhere where everybody can read it—I mean in a book or an inspirational framed piece for the wall that people can buy and give to their children and grandchildren, greeting cards, wherever you can put it. It should be used in speeches, just the way your father said it. So often, parents are so concerned about their child’s security that they want to steer them into something to “fall back on”, and that is often that job they don’t like.
